FK Haugesund (W) produced a strong home performance on 17 October 2026, defeating Molde Women 2-0 in the Norwegian Toppserien. Two goals and a clean sheet made it a thoroughly satisfying evening for the home side, who combined attacking intent with defensive solidity to claim all three points.

Match Overview

Haugesund set the tone early, pressing aggressively and denying Molde the time to settle into their passing rhythm. The hosts looked sharper in the duels and quicker to the second ball, and their territorial control eventually translated into the opening goal.

Molde Women, to their credit, competed throughout and had spells of possession, but they struggled to create genuine penetration against a well-organised Haugesund defensive block.

Key Moments

• Breakthrough goal: Haugesund took the lead with a well-constructed attacking move, finishing with the composure the game had been waiting for.
• Molde's best spell: The visitors pushed for an equaliser either side of the interval, but Haugesund's goalkeeper and centre-backs stood firm.
• Second goal: A decisive second strike gave the home side breathing room and forced Molde to open up.
• Late resistance: Molde tried to find a way back into the contest, but Haugesund managed the closing stages intelligently to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Haugesund's success was built on a compact defensive structure and quick transitions. Their midfield screened the space in front of the defence, forcing Molde to play around them rather than through them, and when possession was won back, the hosts moved the ball forward with purpose. Both goals came from moments where that directness paid off.

Molde Women struggled with the physicality of the contest and found it difficult to get their attacking players into dangerous positions. Their build-up play was patient but lacked the final pass, and Haugesund's defenders read the danger well throughout.

Standout Performers

Haugesund's goalscorers naturally take the headlines, but the foundation was laid by a disciplined back four and a goalkeeper who commanded her penalty area. The midfield engine room covered impressive ground and consistently won the ball back in key areas. Molde's brightest performers were in defence, where individual interventions kept the scoreline from growing further.

Season Impact

In the Norwegian Toppserien, home wins of this nature are the bedrock of a strong campaign. FK Haugesund (W) will take confidence from scoring twice and keeping a clean sheet — a combination that speaks to balance across the team. Molde Women will need to find greater attacking threat in away fixtures, but there were enough competitive elements in this display to suggest they can respond in the coming matches.

A 2-0 home win, three points secured, and a clean sheet to show for it: a good night's work for Haugesund.
