Flekkeroy IL claimed a 2-1 away victory over Viking B in the Norwegian 3.Divisjon on 24 October 2026, using a disciplined second-half performance to take all three points from a tightly contested fixture. The result gives Flekkeroy a valuable road win and leaves Viking B reflecting on a match in which they matched their opponents for long spells but lacked the final cutting edge.

Match overview

Viking B, the reserve side of Viking FK, began with plenty of energy and looked to impose themselves through quick passing in midfield. The home team enjoyed early possession, but Flekkeroy IL defended compactly and threatened on the break. The visitors opened the scoring midway through the first half when a well-worked move down the right created space inside the penalty area, and a composed finish put them ahead.

Viking B responded positively after the interval. Their pressing forced Flekkeroy deeper, and the equaliser arrived after a sustained spell of pressure. A cross from the left was only partially cleared, and Viking B punished the hesitation with a close-range finish to make it 1-1. At that stage, the home side looked the more likely to go on and win, but Flekkeroy regrouped and found the decisive moment late in the second half.

Key moments

• Flekkeroy IL took the lead in the first half with a sharp attacking move and a confident finish.
• Viking B equalised after the break following a period of sustained pressure and a scramble in the box.
• The visitors scored the winning goal in the closing stages, converting a chance created by a quick transition.
• Viking B pushed numbers forward in the final minutes but could not find a second equaliser.

Tactical story

The match was a contrast in approaches. Viking B wanted to control the ball and build patiently from the back, while Flekkeroy IL were happy to sit in a compact mid-block and attack the spaces left behind the home side’s full-backs. That strategy paid off, especially in the second half when Viking B committed more players forward in search of the winner.

Flekkeroy’s midfield worked hard to close central lanes, forcing Viking B into wider areas. The visitors also defended set pieces well, limiting the home side’s ability to create clean headed chances. In possession, Flekkeroy were direct and efficient, and their willingness to shoot from the edge of the box kept Viking B’s goalkeeper busy.

Standout performers

Flekkeroy’s midfield anchor produced a strong all-round display, breaking up play and starting counter-attacks. Their goalkeeper also made two important saves in the second half, including a low stop that preserved the lead after the visitors had gone 2-1 up. For Viking B, the central defender was a steady presence and the left winger caused problems with direct running, but the home side lacked the same ruthlessness in the final third.

Season impact

The win strengthens Flekkeroy IL’s position in the Norwegian 3.Divisjon table and gives the squad confidence ahead of their next fixtures. For Viking B, the defeat is a reminder that reserve-team football can be unforgiving: promising spells of possession must be converted into goals. Viking B remain capable of climbing the standings, but they will need to improve their game management in the closing stages of tight matches.

With the result, Flekkeroy IL take the bragging rights and the points, while Viking B are left to focus on turning territorial dominance into more consistent attacking output.
