Stabæk B 4-1 Haugesund B – Stabæk B produced a dominant home performance on Sunday evening, thrashing Haugesund B 4-1 in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon. The reserve team of top-flight club Stabæk showed their attacking quality with a ruthless first-half display that effectively settled the contest before the hour mark.

Match Overview

Played at Stabæk’s training ground pitch, the match pitted two second-string sides against each other, but there was nothing friendly about the intensity. Stabæk B started on the front foot and never looked back, playing quick, incisive football that repeatedly cut through the Haugesund B defence. The visitors struggled to cope with the pace of the home side’s forwards and found themselves chasing the game from early on.

The victory strengthens Stabæk B’s position in the league table and serves as a reminder of the depth of talent coming through the club’s youth system. For Haugesund B, it was a chastening evening that highlighted defensive frailties they will need to address quickly.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – Stabæk B open the scoring: A slick passing move down the left ended with a low cross into the six-yard box, and the Stabæk striker tapped in from close range to make it 1-0.
• 27th minute – Quickfire double: The lead was doubled when a Haugesund defender lost possession in his own half. Stabæk pounced, and a composed finish into the far corner made it 2-0.
• 34th minute – Third goal: Stabæk added a third before half-time with a stunning strike from outside the box. The ball was laid off to the edge of the area, and a first-time effort flew into the top corner.
• 58th minute – Haugesund pull one back: The visitors gave themselves a glimmer of hope when a well-timed run beat the offside trap, and a cool finish past the goalkeeper reduced the deficit to 3-1.
• 72nd minute – Stabæk seal it: Any hopes of a comeback were extinguished when Stabæk scored their fourth. A corner was only half-cleared, and the ball was drilled back through a crowded penalty area into the net.

Tactical Story

Stabæk B employed a high-pressing 4-3-3 system that suffocated Haugesund B’s attempts to play out from the back. The front three worked in unison to cut off passing lanes, forcing long balls that were easily mopped up by the Stabæk defence. When they won the ball, they transitioned with breathtaking speed, often needing just two or three passes to create a shooting opportunity.

Haugesund B tried to match their hosts in midfield but were overrun. Their midfield trio struggled to track the runners from deep, and the defence was repeatedly exposed by Stabæk’s intelligent movement. The consolation goal came from a rare moment of defensive lapse, but by then the game was already out of reach.

Standout Players

Stabæk B’s centre-forward was the standout performer, scoring one and assisting another with a tireless display of pressing and link-up play. The attacking midfielder who scored the third goal showed excellent technique, while the centre-backs were commanding in the air and composed on the ball.

For Haugesund B, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score from becoming even more emphatic, and the substitute who scored the consolation goal showed good movement and finishing.

Season Impact

The three points keep Stabæk B in the upper reaches of the Norwegian 3. Divisjon table, where they continue to provide a competitive environment for the club’s young players. Haugesund B remain in mid-table and will need to tighten up defensively if they are to avoid a similar fate in future fixtures.

Stabæk B will look to carry this momentum into their next match, while Haugesund B must regroup quickly and find a way to compete against the league’s stronger attacking sides.
