Flekkerøy IL produced one of the away performances of the round in Norway's 3. Divisjon, coming from behind to beat Stabæk B 2-1 and take all three points from a fixture that the reserve side had expected to control on home soil.

Stabæk's second team started brightly and led at the interval, but a determined second-half display from the visitors turned the game around, with two goals after the break securing a result that will be celebrated long after the final whistle.

Match Overview

The opening half hour belonged to Stabæk B. Playing with the confidence of a reserve side well drilled in the club's possession-based philosophy, they moved the ball quickly through midfield and created the first clear chances of the match. Their reward came when a well-timed run into the box was picked out by a clever through ball, and the finish was calm and precise.

Flekkerøy responded by tightening their shape rather than chasing the game. The visitors sat deeper, invited Stabæk forward, and looked to spring forward on the counter-attack. That patience proved crucial: instead of conceding a second goal while stretched, they reached half-time just one behind and with a clear platform for a comeback.

Key Moments

• Stabæk B open the scoring: A slick passing move and a composed finish gave the home side a deserved first-half lead.
• Half-time adjustment: Flekkerøy altered their pressing shape, closing the central corridor that Stabæk had exploited early on.
• Equaliser: A quick transition after the restart brought the visitors level, with a low strike from the edge of the area beating the goalkeeper.
• Winner: Flekkerøy completed the turnaround in the closing stages, converting a cross from the right with a header.
• Late pressure: Stabæk B pushed numbers forward in search of an equaliser but found the visiting defence resolute.

Tactical Story

The match turned on Flekkerøy's second-half adjustment. In the first half, Stabæk B found space repeatedly in the half-spaces, with their No. 10 drifting between the lines and linking play. After the break, the visitors pressed higher and more aggressively, forcing the home side into longer passes and reducing their control of the middle third.

Stabæk B also paid a price for their substitutions and rotation. Reserve-team football inevitably means a shifting lineup, and the cohesion that defined their opening 45 minutes faded as the game wore on. Flekkerøy, by contrast, grew into the contest and looked the more settled side in the final quarter of an hour.

Standout Performers

Flekkerøy's goalscorer up front was the match-winner, holding the ball up well and taking his chance clinically when it arrived. Their right-back delivered the decisive cross and was a constant outlet on the overlap throughout the second half.

For Stabæk B, the young midfielder who dictated the first half was the standout, showing composure beyond his years in possession. The team's defensive line, however, will review the two conceded goals with frustration, having been caught out by transitions they had largely contained before the interval.

Table and Season Impact

For Flekkerøy, this is the type of away victory that builds momentum in a division where travel and results on the road often separate the contenders from the rest. Winning on the ground of a professional club's reserve side carries its own psychological value.

Stabæk B, meanwhile, are reminded that development football rewards consistency within matches, not just in spells. The performance contained plenty to encourage the coaching staff, but the result is a reminder that in the 3. Divisjon, taking points requires concentration for the full ninety minutes.
