Sogndal 0-1 Odd Grenland saw the visitors take all three points from Fosshaugane Campus on 15 October 2026, with a single second-half goal deciding a tight Norwegian 1. Divisjon contest. Odd Grenland’s compact defensive display and clinical finishing proved the difference, while Sogndal were left to rue a missed penalty and a lack of cutting edge in the final third.

Match overview

Sogndal started brightly and looked to impose themselves through patient possession. They worked the ball into wide areas and delivered several dangerous crosses, but Odd Grenland’s centre-backs dealt with the aerial threat well. The visitors sat in a disciplined 4-2-3-1 shape, inviting pressure and looking to break at speed through their wide forwards.

The decisive moment came in the 56th minute. Odd won the ball in midfield, moved it quickly to Oliver Midtskogen on the edge of the area, and he placed a low effort beyond the Sogndal goalkeeper. It was a goal that rewarded Odd’s patience and punished Sogndal for leaving space in front of their defence.

Key moments

• 18’ – Sogndal pressure: A deep cross found Sondre Nydal, but his header was saved comfortably.
• 56’ – Odd goal: Oliver Midtskogen finished low after a quick transition, assisted by Mikael Ingebrigtsen.
• 74’ – Penalty save: Sogndal were awarded a spot-kick, but Peder Klausen guessed correctly and kept out Sondre Nydal’s effort.
• 89’ – Late block: Odd defender Anders Hartvigsen threw himself in front of a goal-bound shot to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical story

Sogndal’s 4-3-3 gave them control of the ball for long periods, but they struggled to break down a well-organised Odd side. The visitors’ midfield pair screened the back four effectively, forcing Sogndal into hopeful crosses and shots from distance. Odd were not dominant, but they were efficient: they created the clearer chances and defended their lead with maturity.

Standout players

Odd goalkeeper Peder Klausen was the hero of the night, not only for the penalty save but also for a series of composed claims under pressure. Oliver Midtskogen took his goal with real quality, while Anders Hartvigsen and the rest of the back line stayed calm as Sogndal pushed forward late on. For Sogndal, Eirik Lerheim defended well and stepped out of defence to start attacks, but the team lacked a decisive final touch.

What it means in the table

The win strengthens Odd Grenland’s position in the upper half of the Norwegian 1. Divisjon and keeps them firmly in the promotion and playoff conversation. Sogndal remain competitive but will be frustrated to have taken nothing from a home fixture in which they had enough possession to earn at least a point. With the season entering its decisive phase, Odd’s ability to win narrowly could prove extremely valuable.
