Brann 2 edge Sogndal B in five-goal Norwegian 3.Divisjon thriller

Brann 2 claimed a dramatic 3-2 win at Sogndal B in the Norwegian 3.Divisjon on October 27, 2026, with a late goal settling a contest that swung both ways. The reserve-team fixture was open and entertaining from the start, and Brann 2’s greater cutting edge in the final third proved the difference.

Sogndal B twice fought back to level the score, but Brann 2 found a winner in the closing minutes to take all three points. The result gives Brann 2 momentum in the development league, while Sogndal B are left to rue missed chances and a defensive lapse at the worst possible moment.

Match overview

Brann 2 started brightly and took the lead inside the first quarter of an hour with a quick attacking move. Sogndal B responded well, pressing higher and forcing errors, and they equalised before the half-hour mark. The game remained finely balanced until Brann 2 regained the lead early in the second half, only for Sogndal B to level again with a well-worked set piece.

With the match seemingly heading for a draw, Brann 2 pushed forward in the final ten minutes and found the decisive goal through a substitute. Sogndal B had one last chance from a corner, but the ball was cleared and the visitors held on for a hard-fought victory.

Key moments

• 12th minute – Brann 2 take the lead: A quick break down the right ended with a low cross that was turned in at the near post.
• 28th minute – Sogndal B equalise: A patient move through midfield created space on the edge of the box, and the home side’s striker curled a shot into the far corner.
• 55th minute – Brann 2 regain the lead: A misplaced pass was intercepted, and Brann 2’s midfielder drove forward before finishing from 18 yards.
• 78th minute – Sogndal B level again: A corner was flicked on at the near post and bundled in at the back post after a scramble.
• 89th minute – Brann 2 score the winner: A substitute winger cut inside from the left and placed a low shot beyond the goalkeeper.

Tactical story

Brann 2’s young side played with energy and pressed Sogndal B’s defenders into mistakes. Their midfield rotated well, creating space for the wide players to run at the back four, and that direct approach produced the opening goal. Sogndal B, however, were dangerous from set pieces and crosses, and they used their physical advantage to stay in the game.

The key difference came in the final 20 minutes, when Brann 2’s substitutions added fresh pace and urgency. Sogndal B dropped deeper in an attempt to protect the draw, and that invited pressure. Brann 2’s winner came from exactly the kind of individual moment the game had been missing in the closing stages, and Sogndal B’s late set piece was not enough to rescue a point.

Standout players

Brann 2’s right winger was a constant outlet, stretching Sogndal B’s defence and delivering the cross that led to the opening goal. The substitute who scored the winner made an immediate impact, while Brann 2’s central midfielder controlled the tempo and won several important duels. For Sogndal B, the centre-forward was their best attacking threat, holding the ball up and scoring the first equaliser.

Sogndal B’s goalkeeper made two smart saves to keep his side in the contest, but he was left exposed for the late winner. Their captain worked tirelessly in midfield, and the set-piece delivery that created the second goal was a reminder of Sogndal B’s quality from dead balls.

Table and season impact

The win lifts Brann 2’s confidence and gives them valuable momentum in the Norwegian 3.Divisjon. For a development side, results are only part of the story, but the character shown in scoring late will please the coaching staff. Sogndal B, meanwhile, will focus on the defensive details that cost them a point, especially the ease with which Brann 2 created the winning chance.

Both sides remain in the middle pack of the division, where consistency is often the difference between a strong season and a frustrating one. Brann 2’s ability to score three goals away from home is a positive sign, while Sogndal B’s fighting spirit suggests they will remain competitive. The next round offers both teams a chance to build on the lessons of this five-goal encounter.
