Skjetten Football 0-0 Kongsvinger IL B: points shared in Norwegian 3. Divisjon

Skjetten Football and Kongsvinger IL B played out a 0-0 draw in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon on 3 October 2026, a result that leaves both sides with a familiar feeling of frustration after a match full of effort but short on goals. The 22:00 kick-off produced ninety minutes of committed, physical football, with the two defences emerging with the greater credit.

Third-division football in Norway is known for its intensity, its directness and its unpredictability, and this fixture delivered all three — just not the goals that would have settled it. Skjetten, on home turf, enjoyed the better of the territorial battle, while Kongsvinger IL B defended in numbers and looked to break at speed whenever they won the ball back.

Match overview

Skjetten started with purpose, pushing their wide players high and looking to stretch the visiting back four with early crosses. Kongsvinger IL B, the second team of Kongsvinger, settled into a deep, disciplined shape and were content to let their hosts have possession in front of them rather than behind them.

That approach frustrated Skjetten for long spells. The home side's best openings came from set pieces and second balls around the edge of the box, but a combination of brave blocking and solid goalkeeping kept the scoreline untouched. As the match progressed, Kongsvinger grew in confidence and began to carry a genuine counter-attacking threat of their own.

Key moments

• Opening exchanges: Skjetten forced two early corners and a free-kick in a dangerous position, all dealt with comfortably.
• Counter-attack danger: Kongsvinger IL B broke clear midway through the first half and forced a fine save from the home goalkeeper.
• Second-half pressure: Skjetten pinned their opponents back for a fifteen-minute spell but could not find a way through the crowded penalty area.
• Late chance: A header from a deep cross drifted just wide in the closing minutes, the closest either side came to a winner.

Tactical story

This was a classic case of a possession side meeting a counter-attacking side, and the counter-attacking side got what it came for. Kongsvinger IL B's game plan was clear from the first whistle: keep the lines tight, defend the box, and use the pace of their forwards on the break. It worked, largely because Skjetten struggled to find a way to play through a compact block rather than around it.

Skjetten's midfield worked hard to recycle possession and keep the tempo high, but the final pass too often arrived a fraction late, allowing the visiting defenders to recover their positions. When the home side did get in behind, the deliveries into the box lacked the precision needed to punish a well-organised opponent.

Standout performers

The Kongsvinger IL B goalkeeper was arguably the most influential player on the pitch, commanding his area and claiming crosses under pressure. His centre-backs were equally impressive, winning the majority of their aerial duels and clearing their lines without hesitation.

For Skjetten, the most encouraging displays came from the two central midfielders, who covered ground relentlessly and kept the side's shape intact even when the game became stretched in the final twenty minutes.

Where the result leaves both clubs

In the context of the Norwegian 3. Divisjon standings, a draw on the road is rarely a bad result, and Kongsvinger IL B will take encouragement from a second consecutive solid defensive display. Skjetten, meanwhile, will feel this was two points dropped at home — a familiar frustration for a team that has been competitive in almost every fixture without converting performances into maximum returns.

Both clubs now turn their attention to the next round of fixtures, aware that in a division as tightly packed as this one, the margins between a mid-table finish and a promotion push are measured in exactly these kinds of afternoons.
