IF Floya claimed a convincing 3-1 victory over Finnsnes in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon on September 20, 2026, at the Fløya Kunstgress. A dominant first-half display set the tone, and despite a brief wobble after the break, the hosts restored their two-goal cushion to secure all three points.

Match Overview

IF Floya started the match on the front foot, pressing high and forcing Finnsnes into early mistakes. The breakthrough came in the 18th minute when Jonas Pettersen capitalized on a loose pass, drove into the box, and fired a low shot into the bottom corner. The lead was doubled just before the half-hour mark as Markus Johansen rose highest to head home a pinpoint corner from the left. Floya continued to dominate, and Pettersen grabbed his second in the 38th minute with a composed finish after being played through on goal.

Finnsnes improved after the interval and pulled one back in the 61st minute through Ole Berg, who finished neatly at the near post after a quick counter. That goal gave the visitors hope, but Floya’s defense tightened, and they managed the game well in the final 20 minutes. The hosts could have added a fourth, but Finnsnes’ goalkeeper made two late saves to keep the score respectable.

Tactical Story

IF Floya’s 4-4-2 system worked perfectly in the first half. The two strikers, Pettersen and Johansen, pressed the Finnsnes center-backs relentlessly, forcing long balls that were easily collected. Out wide, the wingers provided excellent service into the box, and the set-piece routine for the second goal was clearly rehearsed.

Finnsnes switched to a 4-2-3-1 after the break, which gave them more control in midfield. Their goal came from a rare moment of space behind Floya’s full-backs, but they could not sustain the pressure. Floya’s decision to drop their defensive line slightly deeper in the final 20 minutes proved wise, as it limited the space for Finnsnes’ attackers to run into.

Standout Players

Jonas Pettersen was the clear man of the match, scoring twice and leading the line with energy and intelligence. Markus Johansen was also impressive, winning everything in the air and scoring a well-taken header. For Finnsnes, Ole Berg was their brightest spark, taking his goal well and always looking to drive at defenders.

Season Impact

The victory moves IF Floya into a stronger position in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon standings, keeping pace with the teams at the top. Their home form is becoming a real asset, and the confidence gained from this win could fuel a strong run. Finnsnes, meanwhile, remain inconsistent on the road. The defeat leaves them needing to improve their away performances if they are to climb the table. Next up, Floya will look to carry this momentum forward, while Finnsnes must regroup at home.
