Hønefoss BK edged Junkeren 2-1 in a competitive Norwegian 2. Divisjon clash on Sunday, with Kristian Nilsen’s late goal sealing all three points at AKA Arena. The win keeps Hønefoss in the promotion picture and leaves Junkeren frustrated after a spirited second-half comeback.

Hønefoss started the brighter of the two sides and took the lead in the 18th minute through Markus Hauge, who finished well after a neat exchange on the edge of the box. The home side controlled much of the first half, but Junkeren improved after the break and equalised in the 55th minute through Sondre Berg.

With the game heading towards a draw, Hønefoss found a decisive moment in the 81st minute. Nilsen arrived late in the box and side-footed home a low cross, sparking celebrations and securing a valuable home victory.

Match overview

Hønefoss began with intent and pressed Junkeren high up the pitch. Their early dominance was rewarded when Hauge opened the scoring, and they could have added a second before half-time. Junkeren, however, stayed in the game and grew in confidence after the interval, pressing higher and committing more players forward.

The equaliser came from a well-worked move down the left, with Berg converting at the far post. For a period, Junkeren looked the more likely side to score again. But Hønefoss regrouped, and Nilsen’s late winner proved the difference in a tightly contested match.

Key moments

• 18’ — Markus Hauge gives Hønefoss the lead: A quick one-two opened up space, and Hauge finished low into the corner.
• 55’ — Sondre Berg equalises for Junkeren: A cross from the left found Berg unmarked at the back post.
• 81’ — Kristian Nilsen scores the winner: Nilsen timed his run perfectly and converted from close range.
• 90+3’ — Junkeren’s last chance: A header from a corner went just wide as Hønefoss held on.

Tactical story

Hønefoss lined up with a balanced 4-4-2 and looked to control the game through quick passing in midfield. Their wide players stayed high, forcing Junkeren’s full-backs to defend deep. In the first half, that approach worked well, and Hønefoss created several promising openings.

Junkeren adjusted after the break, switching to a more aggressive pressing shape and pushing their midfield higher. That change disrupted Hønefoss’s rhythm and led to the equaliser. However, Hønefoss showed good game management in the final 15 minutes, slowing the tempo and waiting for their chance. When it came, Nilsen’s late run into the box was the decisive moment.

Standout performers

Nilsen will rightly take the headlines for the winning goal, but Hauge’s first-half performance set the tone for Hønefoss. The midfielder was involved in most of their best attacking moves and showed composure in the final third. For Junkeren, Berg was their standout player, scoring the equaliser and causing problems with his movement between the lines.

Season impact

The three points are crucial for Hønefoss BK as they look to stay in contention at the top end of the Norwegian 2. Divisjon. A late home win can be a huge confidence boost, especially in a promotion race where fine margins decide the outcome. Junkeren will be disappointed to leave empty-handed but can take encouragement from a strong second-half display. They will need to turn performances like this into points quickly as the season reaches its decisive phase.
