Grei 2-1 Gamle Oslo — Grei came from behind to claim a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Gamle Oslo in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon on 17 October 2026, turning a tense floodlit contest at Greibanen with a composed second-half performance.

The home side started with intent but found themselves trailing early after Gamle Oslo capitalised on a quick transition. Rather than panic, Grei gradually established control through midfield and were rewarded before the break with an equaliser that changed the mood of the match. The winner arrived after the hour, and Grei managed the closing stages well enough to secure three valuable points in a competitive lower-league campaign.

Match overview

Gamle Oslo’s opening goal came from a direct attacking sequence, with Jonas Haugen finishing calmly after Grei failed to clear a ball into the box. The visitors then sat slightly deeper, looking to protect their lead and hit on the counter. Grei responded by pushing their full-backs higher and creating overloads on the flanks, which eventually produced the equaliser in the 38th minute through Sander Kvamme.

After the interval, Grei looked the more settled side. Elias Berg scored what proved to be the winner in the 67th minute, arriving late in the penalty area to convert a low cross. Gamle Oslo pushed for a leveller in the final 15 minutes, but Grei’s goalkeeper and centre-backs dealt with a series of crosses and set pieces to protect the result.

Key moments

• 14’ — Gamle Oslo take the lead: Jonas Haugen finishes a quick counter-attack to silence the home crowd.
• 38’ — Grei equalise: Sander Kvamme converts from the edge of the area after sustained pressure down the right.
• 67’ — Grei go ahead: Elias Berg times his run perfectly and finishes from close range.
• 84’ — Late block preserves the win: Grei’s defence reacts well to deny Gamle Oslo a clear sight of goal.

Tactical story

Grei’s comeback was built on patience rather than urgency. Their midfield trio kept the ball moving and forced Gamle Oslo to defend long spells, while the wide players stretched the visitors’ back line. Gamle Oslo’s low block worked for much of the first half, but the sheer volume of crosses and second balls eventually told.

The visitors remained dangerous on the break and had moments to equalise late on, but Grei’s decision to drop their defensive line a few metres deeper in the final 10 minutes helped them avoid being caught behind. It was not a flawless display, but it was a mature one in game management terms.

Standout players

Sander Kvamme was central to Grei’s response, combining energy with composure in the final third. Elias Berg’s match-winning contribution underlined his ability to arrive in scoring positions at the right time, while Grei’s goalkeeper made two important late saves. For Gamle Oslo, Jonas Haugen was their brightest attacking outlet and took his goal well.

What the result means

The win gives Grei a timely boost in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon table and reinforces their home form at an important stage of the season. For Gamle Oslo, the defeat is a frustrating one after taking an early lead, but the performance showed enough attacking threat to suggest they can collect points in their remaining fixtures. In a division where momentum can shift quickly, Grei’s ability to win without playing at their absolute best could prove significant.
