Åsane Fotball B and Førde played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon on Saturday evening, a result that delivered plenty of attacking football but left both sides with a sense of two points dropped.

Four goals, no winner

The match swung back and forth throughout. Åsane's reserve side, playing on home turf, started with energy and took an early lead, only to be pegged back before half time. Førde then edged ahead shortly after the interval, and it took a determined final push from the hosts to salvage a share of the spoils.

For neutrals it was a compelling watch: quick transitions, both midfields conceding space, and four goals that came from very different routes — a flowing move, a set piece, a counter-attack and a scrappy finish. For the coaches, it will have been a far more frustrating evening.

Key moments

• 14' — Åsane Fotball B take the lead with a slick passing move finished confidently at the back post.
• 38' — Førde equalise from a corner, heading home unmarked at the near post.
• 54' — Førde go ahead for the first time, breaking at speed and finishing low past the goalkeeper.
• 68' — Åsane hit the crossbar with a long-range strike.
• 83' — Åsane level it up, forcing the ball over the line during a goalmouth scramble.
• 90+' — Both teams push for a winner, but the final chances are wasted.

Tactical story

This was a game defined by space in midfield. Both teams committed players forward quickly and neither was able to fully control the central areas, which produced end-to-end football but also a steady stream of turnovers. Førde were the more direct of the two, favouring long diagonal passes and second balls, and that approach brought them their goal on the counter.

Åsane Fotball B, as is typical of a reserve side, played with ambition and technical intent. Their rotations in wide areas caused real problems, and their equaliser came from sustained pressure around the box rather than a single moment of brilliance. The trade-off was vulnerability: the same adventurous full-backs who created chances left gaps behind them that Førde exploited twice.

Set-piece defending will be the main talking point in the Åsane dressing room. Conceding from a corner just when they had control of the game changed the entire complexion of the contest.

Standout performers

Åsane's attacking midfielder was the most inventive player on the pitch, drifting between the lines and linking play intelligently throughout. Their striker, one of the youngest players involved, showed impressive maturity in holding the ball up and bringing others into the game.

Førde's wide forward was a constant threat on the break, and his direct running was central to their second goal. The visiting goalkeeper also made two excellent saves in the closing stages to ensure his side left with a point rather than none.

Table impact

Draws can be damaging in the Norwegian 3. Divisjon, where the margins between promotion contention and mid-table obscurity are razor thin. Førde will feel the more satisfied of the two, having twice led away from home, while Åsane Fotball B are left to reflect on a defensive display that undid much of their good attacking work.

Both clubs remain in the thick of a congested group, and with the season entering its final stretch, turning draws into wins — particularly in home fixtures like this one — will determine where each of them finishes.
