Rabotnicki Skopje claimed a narrow 1-0 away win against FK Makedonija Gjorce Petrov in the North Macedonia Second Football League on Saturday, September 19, 2026. A single second-half goal settled a tense, tightly contested derby at the Gjorce Petrov Stadium, handing the visitors all three points and leaving the hosts to rue their missed chances.

Match Overview

The game kicked off at 21:45 local time under the lights, with both teams aware of the significance of an early-season six-pointer. Makedonija started brightly, pressing high and forcing Rabotnicki into a series of hurried clearances. However, the visitors gradually imposed their rhythm, controlling possession and probing for gaps in a disciplined home defence.

After a goalless first half, the decisive moment arrived in the 67th minute. A quick turnover in midfield allowed Rabotnicki to spring forward, and a perfectly weighted through ball released their striker, who coolly slotted past the onrushing goalkeeper. Makedonija pushed for an equaliser, but Rabotnicki's back line held firm, repelling a late barrage of crosses and set-pieces.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Makedonija's first real chance – a curling effort from the edge of the box forces a smart save from the Rabotnicki goalkeeper.
• 34th minute: Rabotnicki's midfielder rattles the crossbar with a dipping free-kick.
• 67th minute: Goal! Rabotnicki's striker latches onto a defence-splitting pass and finishes clinically.
• 83rd minute: Makedonija's captain heads narrowly wide from a corner.
• 90+3 minutes: A last-ditch block denies Makedonija a dramatic equaliser.

Tactical Story

Rabotnicki set up in a compact 4-2-3-1, looking to absorb pressure and hit on the counter. Their midfield double pivot effectively nullified Makedonija's creative hub, forcing the hosts into wide areas where crosses were easily dealt with. Makedonija, meanwhile, struggled to break down a well-organised low block, often resorting to speculative shots from distance.

The introduction of fresh legs on the hour mark proved decisive for Rabotnicki; the substitute's movement stretched the home defence, creating the space for the winning goal. Makedonija's manager responded with attacking changes, but the lack of a clinical finisher cost them dearly.

Standout Players

Rabotnicki's goalkeeper was instrumental, making three crucial saves, including a point-blank stop in the 78th minute. The goalscorer understandably took the plaudits, but the central defensive pairing also impressed with a towering performance, winning the majority of aerial duels. For Makedonija, their left winger was a constant threat, completing five dribbles and delivering several dangerous crosses.

What It Means for the Table

This victory lifts Rabotnicki Skopje into the upper reaches of the North Macedonia Second Football League standings, strengthening their promotion ambitions. FK Makedonija Gjorce Petrov, meanwhile, remain in the mid-table pack, and they will need to address their attacking efficiency if they are to close the gap on the leaders. Next up, Makedonija face a tricky away trip, while Rabotnicki will look to build on this momentum at home.
