FK Ohrid 2004 secured a convincing 0-2 away victory over FK Makedonija Gjorce Petrov in the North Macedonia Second Football League, using a patient first-half breakthrough and a clinical second goal to take control of a competitive fixture. The visitors’ disciplined display underlined their promotion credentials, while the home side were left frustrated after failing to turn possession into clear chances.

Match overview

FK Makedonija Gjorce Petrov began the match with plenty of energy, looking to impose themselves on the ball and force FK Ohrid 2004 deep. The home side moved the ball reasonably well in the opening stages, but they found it difficult to break through a well-organised defensive block. Ohrid sat compactly, defended their penalty area and waited for opportunities to counter.

The breakthrough came for the visitors before half-time. A quick transition caught Makedonija out of shape, and Ohrid finished the move with composure to silence the home crowd. That goal gave the away side something to protect and forced Makedonija to take more risks after the restart.

Key moments

• First-half opener: FK Ohrid 2004 broke the deadlock with a well-executed attacking move, punishing FK Makedonija Gjorce Petrov for committing too many bodies forward.
• Second-half cushion: Ohrid doubled their lead after the break, taking advantage of space left by the home side as they pushed for an equaliser.
• Makedonija’s frustration: The hosts created a few half-chances but were repeatedly denied by good goalkeeping and last-ditch defending.
• Game management: Ohrid slowed the tempo in the final 20 minutes, defended set pieces well and protected their two-goal advantage.

Tactical story

Ohrid’s victory was built on structure and efficiency. They were content to let Makedonija have the ball in less dangerous areas, then attacked quickly through the channels when possession turned over. Their midfield pairing protected the back four effectively and ensured the home side’s central creators had little room to operate.

For FK Makedonija Gjorce Petrov, the defeat raises familiar questions about converting territory into goals. They saw enough of the ball to build pressure, but their final pass was often delayed or overhit, allowing Ohrid to recover. Once the visitors scored the second goal, the match became increasingly difficult for the home side to chase.

Standout performers

FK Ohrid 2004’s goalkeeper was reliable when called upon, handling crosses confidently and making a strong second-half save. Their centre-forward led the line well, holding up play and contributing to both goals. Makedonija’s most positive performances came from their wide players, who tried to stretch the game, but they lacked support in the penalty area.

Second League table impact

The three points are significant for FK Ohrid 2004 in the North Macedonia Second Football League standings, giving them another strong away result and reinforcing their challenge near the top. FK Makedonija Gjorce Petrov remain with work to do after a home defeat, particularly in attack, where they must become more ruthless if they are to turn possession into points.
