The North Macedonia First Football League produced a tense and tightly contested Shkendija derby on 11 October 2026, as Shkendija Haracine held Shkendija Tetovo to a 1-1 draw. Haracine took the lead against the run of play, Tetovo equalised after the break, and neither side could find a winner in a match full of commitment, tactical discipline and local pride.

Match overview

Shkendija Tetovo entered the match as the more fancied side, and they dominated possession for long spells. Their midfield rotated the ball patiently, looking to draw Haracine out of position and create gaps between the lines. Haracine, meanwhile, defended with concentration and looked to strike on the counter-attack. That approach paid off in the first half when they scored the opening goal, silencing the travelling supporters and energising the home crowd.

After the interval, Tetovo increased the tempo and pushed their full-backs higher. The pressure eventually told, and they equalised with a well-worked goal. Both teams had chances to win it in the final 20 minutes, but strong goalkeeping, last-ditch defending and a few wasteful finishes kept the score level.

• 90+3 minutes: Tetovo won a late free-kick in a dangerous position, but the delivery was cleared as the referee blew for full time.

Tactical story

Shkendija Tetovo set up in a 4-3-3 formation, aiming to control the middle of the pitch and overload the flanks. Their midfielders recycled possession well, but Haracine’s compact 5-4-1 defensive block made it difficult to find clear shooting lanes. Haracine were happy to concede territory, defending deep and using their quick forwards to launch counters.

The equaliser came when Tetovo started to play more vertically. Instead of endless sideways passing, they began to attack the space behind Haracine’s wing-backs, and the resulting crosses caused problems. Haracine responded by dropping even deeper, and they survived some anxious moments late on. It was a classic clash between a possession-heavy favourite and a disciplined underdog.

Standout players

Shkendija Haracine’s goalkeeper was the man of the match, producing several important saves and commanding his area under late pressure. The centre-back pairing also deserve praise for blocking shots and winning crucial headers. Going forward, Haracine’s No. 9 worked tirelessly and scored the opening goal with a composed finish.

For Shkendija Tetovo, the central playmaker was the creative force, constantly demanding the ball and trying to unlock the defence. The winger who provided the assist for the equaliser was lively throughout, while the defensive midfielder kept the team ticking in possession. Tetovo will feel they did enough to win, but they lacked a final finishing touch.

Table and season impact

The draw is a mixed result for Shkendija Tetovo, who drop two valuable points in the North Macedonia First Football League title race. For Shkendija Haracine, the point is a significant morale boost and a useful addition to their survival hopes. The Shkendija derby may not have produced a winner, but it delivered plenty of intensity and showed that Haracine are capable of competing with the league’s stronger sides.
