Tactical Story

Glentoran Women used width effectively, stretching Lisburn Rangers and creating space for midfield runners. Their full-backs were aggressive in the attacking third, and the front players constantly swapped positions to confuse the defence. The pressing was coordinated: when one player moved, others followed, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas.

Lisburn Rangers (W) tried to stay compact and hit on the counter, but they struggled to retain the ball. Their defensive block was deep, which invited pressure, and when they did win possession, the passes forward were often hurried. Against a team as clinical as Glentoran Women, those turnovers proved costly.

Standout Performers

Glentoran Women’s forward line was relentless. The wide players delivered dangerous crosses and cut inside to shoot, while the central striker linked play and created space for others. In midfield, the captain controlled the rhythm, winning second balls and keeping the team on the front foot.

For Lisburn Rangers (W), the goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even wider margin. The centre-backs showed courage under sustained pressure, and the midfielders kept working until the end. It was a tough night, but the team’s spirit did not disappear despite the scoreline.
