VV Kloetinge 3-3 Rohda Raalte: Six-Goal Thriller Ends All Square in Tweede Divisie

VV Kloetinge and Rohda Raalte shared the spoils in a pulsating 3-3 draw in the Netherlands Tweede Divisie on Saturday evening, 26 September 2026. In a match that had almost everything — comebacks, set-piece goals, and a late equaliser — both sides will feel they could have taken all three points, yet the draw was a fair reflection of an open and entertaining contest.

Played under the lights, the game was a showcase of the attacking intent that makes the Tweede Divisie such a competitive breeding ground for Dutch football. Kloetinge, backed by their home support, started brightly, but Rohda Raalte's counter-attacking threat kept the match on a knife-edge throughout. The final whistle brought a mixture of relief and frustration: relief for Rohda Raalte after their late leveller, frustration for Kloetinge after twice surrendering a lead.

Match Overview

Kloetinge lined up in a familiar 4-3-3, looking to dominate possession and stretch Rohda Raalte down the flanks. The visitors set up in a compact 4-2-3-1, inviting pressure before springing forward quickly through their wide players. That tactical contrast produced an end-to-end first half, with both goalkeepers called into action before the interval.

Rohda Raalte drew first blood in the 12th minute when Bakker latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the box and fired low into the corner. Kloetinge responded well, equalising on 28 minutes through Van der Linde, who met a whipped cross from the right with a firm header. The visitors regained the lead seven minutes before half-time, Gerritsen converting a penalty after a foul in the area. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Kloetinge levelled again when De Bruijn curled a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner.

The second half continued in the same vein. Kloetinge took the lead for the first time on 63 minutes, Van Keulen finishing a sweeping move involving three quick passes. It looked like being the winner, but Rohda Raalte refused to lie down and grabbed a dramatic equaliser in the 88th minute through Van der Vegt, who stabbed home from close range after a goalmouth scramble.

Key Moments

• 12' – Bakker opens the scoring: Rohda Raalte's early pressure paid off when Bakker found space just inside the box and placed his shot beyond the goalkeeper.
• 28' – Van der Linde heads Kloetinge level: A well-worked move down the right ended with a precise cross and a powerful header.
• 38' – Gerritsen converts from the spot: Rohda Raalte restored their advantage after the referee pointed to the penalty spot.
• 45+2' – De Bruijn's free-kick: Kloetinge went into the break level after a moment of individual quality from a set piece.
• 63' – Van Keulen puts Kloetinge ahead: The hosts completed their comeback with a slick team goal.
• 88' – Van der Vegt rescues a point: A late scramble ended with the ball in the net, sending the away bench into celebration.

Tactical Story

Kloetinge's midfield trio controlled large spells of possession, using the width of the pitch to create overloads. Their full-backs pushed high, which left them vulnerable to Rohda Raalte's quick transitions. The visitors were happy to defend in a mid-block and attack through the channels, and that approach earned them three goals on the road.

Rohda Raalte's set-piece defending was less convincing, and two of Kloetinge's goals came from dead-ball situations or crosses into the box. In the end, both managers will review the same problem: neither side managed the game well enough when protecting a lead. The draw keeps both teams in the mid-table conversation, with Kloetinge showing attacking flair but still searching for defensive consistency.

Standout Players

Van der Linde was a constant threat for Kloetinge, combining intelligent movement with a strong aerial presence. De Bruijn dictated the tempo in midfield and delivered the free-kick that changed the mood before half-time. For Rohda Raalte, Bakker's energy and direct running caused problems all evening, while Van der Vegt's late goal rewarded a tireless performance.

Both goalkeepers made important saves, particularly in a frantic final 10 minutes when the game could have finished 4-3 either way. It was that kind of night: breathtaking going forward, nerve-shredding at the back.

What the Draw Means

The result leaves VV Kloetinge and Rohda Raalte level on points in the early Tweede Divisie standings, with both sides showing they can compete in the upper half of the table. For Kloetinge, the challenge is turning draws into wins at home. For Rohda Raalte, the late equaliser will feel like a victory in itself and provides momentum heading into the
