Almere City Youth produced the standout performance of the round in the Netherlands Tweede Divisie, winning 4-1 away at RKAV Volendam in a match that showcased the attacking quality running through the visiting academy side.

Match Overview

The 20:30 kick-off on 3 October 2026 promised an interesting contrast: RKAV Volendam's experience and home familiarity against the youthful energy of Almere City's development team. For much of the first half it was competitive, but once Almere City found rhythm in possession, the game tilted decisively in their favour.

Volendam actually began well, pressing aggressively and creating the first meaningful chance of the night. But Almere City absorbed that opening spell and then punished their hosts with a ruthless run of goals that turned a tight contest into a comfortable away win.

Key Moments

• Opening goal: Almere City struck first after a slick passing sequence opened up the Volendam defensive line.
• Quick double: The visitors doubled their advantage shortly after, and a third goal before the break effectively settled the contest.
• Volendam reply: The home side pulled one back with a well-taken goal, briefly raising hopes of a comeback.
• Fourth goal: Any lingering doubt was removed when Almere City added a fourth, capping a dominant attacking display.

Tactical Story

Almere City Youth played with the freedom typical of a well-coached academy side. Their midfield rotated constantly, dragging Volendam's markers out of position and creating space between the lines. The front three were direct and unselfish, and the 4-1 scoreline reflected both the volume and the quality of the chances created.

Volendam's difficulties were mostly structural. Chasing the game early forced them to commit players forward, which in turn left gaps that a fast, technical opponent was always going to exploit. Their goal was a good reward for their persistence, but defensively they could not cope with the speed of Almere City's transitions.

Standout Performers

The Almere City attackers shared the burden impressively, with the forward line combining for the goals and the midfield dictating the tempo. Their goalkeeper also made a crucial save at 1-0 that prevented Volendam from gaining the initiative. For RKAV Volendam, the goalscorer and the captain in midfield were the players who kept the team competing after the game slipped away.

Season Impact

A 4-1 away victory is a statement result in any division, and for Almere City Youth it reinforces their reputation as one of the most watchable sides in the Tweede Divisie. Young development teams can be inconsistent, so combining goals with a convincing away performance is a real marker of progress. For Volendam, the defeat is a setback that highlights the need for greater defensive solidity, particularly when matches open up.

The result will be noted across the Tweede Divisie table, where goal difference can matter enormously by the spring. Almere City's attacking output this season is becoming a genuine talking point among followers of Dutch football's third tier.
