HSV Hoek and Kozakken Boys played out a 0-0 draw in the Netherlands Tweede Divisie on 17 October 2026, with both defences dominating a match that offered tension but few clear chances. The point leaves both sides with something to build on, though each will feel they could have found a breakthrough in key moments.

Match overview

The game began at a high tempo, with HSV Hoek pressing forward and Kozakken Boys looking to counter through the wide areas. Hoek’s best early opportunity came from a set piece, but the ball was cleared away after a scramble inside the six-yard box. Kozakken Boys responded with a few dangerous breaks, though the final pass lacked precision.

As the first half wore on, the contest became more tactical. Both midfields worked hard to close space, and clear sights of goal were rare. The second half followed a similar pattern: Hoek enjoyed slightly more possession, while Kozakken Boys defended compactly and looked for chances on the break.

Key moments

• 14th minute: HSV Hoek force an early corner and create a scramble, but Kozakken Boys clear the danger.
• 36th minute: Kozakken Boys break quickly, but the final shot is blocked by a recovering defender.
• 61st minute: Hoek’s best chance of the match is saved low by the goalkeeper after a quick move down the left.
• 79th minute: A Kozakken Boys effort from distance flies just wide of the post.
• 90th minute: Hoek send a late free-kick into the box, but the visitors head it clear.

Tactical story

This was a match defined by defensive discipline. HSV Hoek tried to build through midfield, but Kozakken Boys’ compact shape made it difficult to find central passing lanes. Hoek’s wide players were often forced to cross from deep, where the defenders were well placed to clear. Kozakken Boys, meanwhile, sat deep and looked to spring forward quickly, but their attacking transitions did not quite have the final quality.

Both goalkeepers were well protected for long stretches. The best chances came from set pieces and half-clearances rather than sustained attacking moves. In the closing minutes, Hoek pushed more bodies forward, but Kozakken Boys remained organised and dealt with the late pressure.

Standout performers

The central defenders on both sides were among the best players on the pitch. They won headers, blocked shots and kept the penalty area relatively calm. Hoek’s goalkeeper produced an important second-half save, while Kozakken Boys’ midfield worked tirelessly to screen the back four and limit space between the lines.

For Hoek, the performance showed good control but a lack of cutting edge in the final third. Kozakken Boys will be satisfied with the clean sheet and the discipline of their defensive display, though they may feel a counter-attacking goal was there for the taking.

Table and season impact

A goalless draw can be valuable in the Netherlands Tweede Divisie, especially when the alternative is a costly defeat. HSV Hoek add a point to their home tally and keep a clean sheet, while Kozakken Boys take a hard-earned away point from a difficult fixture. Both sides will now turn their attention to improving their attacking output in the next round.

The match showed why the Tweede Divisie is often so competitive: even without goals, the tactical battle was absorbing. Hoek and Kozakken Boys both leave with something, but both will know that converting possession and counter-attacks into goals remains the key to climbing the table.
