PSV Eindhoven Women suffered a chastening 0-4 defeat at the hands of FC Twente Enschede Women in the Eredivisie Vrouwen on September 19, 2026. The match, played at the PSV Campus De Herdgang, saw the visitors produce a ruthless attacking display that left the home side reeling and sent a clear message in the title race.

Match Overview

From the first whistle, FC Twente imposed their rhythm on the game. The visitors pressed high, won the ball back quickly in midfield, and constantly looked to play forward. PSV, normally so assured at home, struggled to string passes together and found themselves chasing shadows for long periods. Twente's intensity was matched by their clinical finishing, as they converted four of their clear chances to seal a comprehensive win.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Twente broke the deadlock when Fenna Kalma latched onto a through ball, rounded the goalkeeper, and slotted into an empty net.
• 34th minute: Renate Jansen doubled the lead with a powerful header from a corner, rising above the PSV defense.
• 58th minute: A swift counterattack ended with Kayleigh van Doorn firing low into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
• 78th minute: Substitute Sisca Worm added a fourth, curling a beautiful effort into the top corner to cap off a memorable night.

Tactical Story

The game was decided in midfield, where Twente's trio of Jansen, Van Doorn, and Kalma overwhelmed PSV's engine room. Twente's high press forced PSV into numerous turnovers, and their quick transitions turned defense into attack in seconds. PSV's backline, missing key players through injury, looked vulnerable to pace and movement. The home side's attempts to play out from the back repeatedly broke down, and Twente's relentless energy never allowed them to settle. Twente's manager later praised his team's "perfect execution" of the game plan.

Standout Players

Fenna Kalma (FC Twente): The striker was a constant thorn in PSV's side, scoring the opener and linking play superbly. Her movement off the ball created space for her teammates throughout.

Renate Jansen (FC Twente): The experienced midfielder controlled the tempo and scored a crucial second goal. Her leadership was evident as she drove her team forward.

Kayleigh van Doorn (FC Twente): Her energy and direct running caused endless problems, and she capped her performance with a well-taken goal.

For PSV, goalkeeper Nicky van den Abbeele made several fine saves to keep the score from being even more lopsided, but she was left exposed by her defense.

Season Impact

This result sees FC Twente Enschede Women move to the top of the Eredivisie Vrouwen standings, level on points with rivals but with a superior goal difference. For PSV Eindhoven Women, it is a significant setback that leaves them trailing in the title race and raises questions about their defensive resilience. With the season still young, PSV will need to regroup quickly, while Twente will take enormous confidence from such a dominant away performance against a direct competitor.
