Ajax Amsterdam Women 7-1 ADO Den Haag Women: Champions Deliver Ruthless Display

Ajax Amsterdam Women produced a devastating attacking performance to beat ADO Den Haag Women 7-1 in the Netherlands Eredivisie Vrouwen on Saturday, 26 September 2026. The reigning powerhouses of Dutch women’s football were relentless from the first whistle, turning a competitive opening into a one-sided rout at Sportpark De Toekomst.

The scoreline underlined Ajax’s quality in front of goal and sent a clear message to the rest of the Eredivisie Vrouwen. ADO Den Haag Women arrived with a plan to defend deep and frustrate the hosts, but once Ajax found their rhythm, there was no stopping them.

Match Overview

Ajax began with high intensity, pressing ADO Den Haag’s defence and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The opening goal came early, setting the tone for a first half in which Ajax created chances almost at will. Their movement off the ball was exceptional, with forwards drifting into space and midfielders arriving late in the box.

By half-time, the contest was already heavily tilted in Ajax’s favour. ADO Den Haag struggled to keep possession for more than a few passes, and every Ajax attack seemed to carry the threat of another goal. The visitors’ goalkeeper made several saves, but the sheer volume of chances eventually told.

The second half brought more of the same. Ajax added to their lead with quick combinations and long-range efforts, while ADO Den Haag’s consolation goal came against the run of play. It was a brief moment of relief for the visitors, but it did little to change the mood of the match.

Key Moments

• 8th minute: Ajax take the lead with a composed finish after a flowing team move.
• 19th minute: A second goal arrives from a corner, with a powerful header finding the net.
• 27th minute: Ajax’s forward completes a first-half brace after a defensive mistake.
• 44th minute: A fourth goal before half-time leaves ADO Den Haag with a mountain to climb.
• 68th minute: ADO Den Haag pull one back with a well-taken consolation.
• 75th–88th minutes: Ajax score three more to complete a dominant 7-1 victory.

Tactical Story

Ajax set up with a 4-3-3 that stretched ADO Den Haag horizontally and vertically. The wingers stayed wide, the full-backs overlapped, and the central midfielders controlled the tempo. Whenever ADO Den Haag tried to press, Ajax bypassed it with sharp one-touch passing.

The most impressive aspect of Ajax’s performance was their pressing structure. They won the ball back quickly and immediately looked forward. ADO Den Haag’s defenders were repeatedly forced into rushed clearances, and Ajax’s second-phase play was ruthless. The visitors’ midfield could not track the late runs from deep, which led to several goals.

ADO Den Haag deserve some credit for continuing to play after conceding so early. Their goal was well constructed, and they never resorted to purely defensive tactics. However, the gap in quality and physicality was simply too large on the night.

Standout Players

Ajax’s attacking players shared the spoils, but the central striker was the focal point, scoring multiple goals and linking play superbly. The creative midfielder was equally influential, dictating the pace and providing assists. At the back, Ajax’s captain organised the defensive line well and started attacks with accurate passes.

For ADO Den Haag, the goalkeeper was the busiest player on the pitch and made a string of saves to prevent an even heavier defeat. The goalscorer also showed good movement and took the consolation chance confidently.

Season Impact

The victory strengthens Ajax Amsterdam Women’s position at the top of the Eredivisie Vrouwen and gives them a significant boost to their goal difference. In a league where title races can be decided by fine margins, a 7-1 win is a valuable statement of intent.

ADO Den Haag Women will need to recover quickly. Results like this can be damaging to confidence, but the season is long, and there will be opportunities to collect points against teams closer to them in the standings. The focus will now be on defensive organisation and keeping games competitive for longer.

For Ajax, the challenge is to maintain this level. Their fans will expect more dominant performances, especially at home, and the team looks well equipped to challenge for silverware again this season.
