Jong AZ produced a ruthless attacking performance to dismantle Volendam 4-1, with a four-goal haul at home underlining the talent flowing through the Alkmaar academy.

Match Overview

Jong AZ were on the front foot from the very first minute, pressing Volendam into errors and moving the ball at a pace the visitors struggled to match. The hosts raced into a commanding lead with two first-half goals, and although Volendam pulled one back to give themselves a glimmer of hope, Jong AZ responded emphatically after the interval to restore a comfortable cushion and then add a fourth.

Key Moments

• Early breakthrough: Jong AZ take the lead with a sharp finish after a high turnover in the final third.
• Double the lead: A second goal arrives before half-time, capping a dominant opening period.
• Volendam lifeline: The visitors reduce the deficit with a well-taken goal, briefly changing the mood.
• Closing statement: Jong AZ score twice more in the second half to seal a convincing victory.

Tactical Story

Jong AZ's high press was the foundation of the win. Volendam, who like to build patiently from defence, found themselves hurried into long balls and turnovers, and each of those turnovers gave the hosts a chance to attack in transition. When Volendam did manage to play through the press, they looked dangerous — but those moments were too infrequent to change the outcome.

Standout Performers

The Jong AZ front line was electric, with the wide attackers repeatedly getting in behind the Volendam defence and the centre-forward linking play intelligently. In midfield, the young playmaker dictated tempo and contributed directly to the scoreline. Volendam's best moments came through their captain, who drove forward and scored his side's only goal of the night.

Season Impact

This was a result that will be noticed across the Eerste Divisie. Jong AZ's ability to score four goals against an established second-tier club underlines why the Alkmaar academy continues to produce players ready for senior football. For Volendam, it is a night to forget defensively, but the attacking flashes they showed suggest better results lie ahead if they can tighten up at the back.
