Almere City FC delivered a statement performance on 10 October 2026, dismantling FC Eindhoven 3-0 at the Yanmar Stadion to reinforce their promotion ambitions in the Netherlands Eerste Divisie. A brace from striker Bram van Vlerken and a late third from winger Joris Kramer sealed a thoroughly deserved three points, moving Almere into the automatic promotion places with a confident display of attacking football.

Match Overview

From the first whistle, Almere City imposed their rhythm on the game, pressing Eindhoven high and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The visitors struggled to string passes together, often resorting to long balls that were comfortably dealt with by Almere’s central defensive pair of Thomas Beekman and Ruben van Kouwen. The home side’s midfield trio controlled the tempo, with captain Sven van Doorn dictating play and repeatedly finding pockets of space between Eindhoven’s defensive lines. Eindhoven’s best chance came against the run of play in the 28th minute, but a smart save from Almere goalkeeper Mark van den Berg kept the clean sheet intact.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – 1-0: Bram van Vlerken opened the scoring with a clinical finish after a slick one-two with Joris Kramer, slotting the ball low past the Eindhoven goalkeeper.
• 38th minute – 2-0: Van Vlerken doubled his tally, rising highest to head home a precise cross from right-back Daan van der Meer.
• 72nd minute – 3-0: Substitute Joris Kramer put the result beyond doubt, curling a left-footed shot into the far corner after a quick counter-attack.

Tactical Story

Almere City lined up in a 4-3-3 that morphed into a 3-2-5 in possession, with full-backs pushing high to pin Eindhoven’s wingers back. The visitors attempted a 5-3-2 low block, but their midfield was overrun by Almere’s relentless pressing. Eindhoven’s attempts to play out from the back were repeatedly intercepted, leading to a series of chances. Almere’s dominance was reflected in the statistics: 64% possession, 18 shots to Eindhoven’s 4, and 9 corners to 1. The only concern for the home side was a late yellow card for van Doorn, but it did little to dampen the mood.

Standout Players

Bram van Vlerken was the obvious star, his two goals taking his season tally to seven in nine matches. Joris Kramer, who started on the bench, changed the game with his direct running and capped it with a fine goal. In defence, Thomas Beekman was a rock, winning every aerial duel and making several crucial interceptions. For Eindhoven, goalkeeper Lars de Bruijn prevented a heavier defeat with a string of saves, but he was left exposed by his defence.

Season Impact

The win lifts Almere City to second in the Eerste Divisie standings, level on points with the leaders and with a game in hand. For FC Eindhoven, the defeat leaves them in 14th place, still searching for consistency. Almere’s next fixture sees them travel to face De Graafschap, while Eindhoven host Dordrecht. On this evidence, Almere look like genuine title contenders, and their attacking firepower will be hard for any team in the division to contain.
