VV Eemdijk secure solid 2-0 home win over USV Hercules

VV Eemdijk produced a controlled home performance to beat USV Hercules 2-0 in the Netherlands Derde Divisie on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Goals in either half and a disciplined defensive display earned the hosts three valuable points and a clean sheet.

Eemdijk began the match with purpose, pressing Hercules high and forcing mistakes in the visitors’ build-up. The opening goal arrived in the 34th minute when a quick passing sequence opened up space on the edge of the penalty area, and the finish was driven low into the corner. Hercules looked to respond before half-time but struggled to create clear chances against a well-organized back line.

Key moments and match flow

The second half followed a similar pattern. Hercules saw more of the ball but found it difficult to break through Eemdijk’s compact defensive shape. The hosts doubled their lead in the 76th minute after a well-timed run from midfield was picked out by a precise through ball, and the forward finished calmly past the goalkeeper. From there, Eemdijk managed the game professionally, slowing the tempo and limiting Hercules to hopeful efforts from distance.

• 34' — Eemdijk take the lead with a low finish.
• 76' — The hosts double their advantage.
• 90' — Eemdijk close out the match with a clean sheet.

Tactical story: compact defending and efficient attacks

Eemdijk’s victory was built on balance. They defended in a compact block, denied Hercules space between the lines, and were quick to counter when they won possession. The midfield worked tirelessly to protect the defense, while the forwards made intelligent runs to stretch the opposition. Hercules had periods of possession but lacked the final pass to unlock a well-drilled unit.

The home side’s ability to score at important moments was another key factor. The first goal settled any early nerves, and the second arrived just as Hercules were beginning to push more players forward. In a competitive Derde Divisie campaign, that kind of game management can be the difference between mid-table security and a stronger push up the standings.

Standout players and table impact

Eemdijk’s goalkeeper was reliable when called upon, but the standout performance came from the midfield, where the hosts won most of the second balls and controlled the rhythm of the match. The forward who scored the second goal also impressed with his movement and composure. For Hercules, the defender who made several timely interventions was among their better performers on a difficult afternoon.

The three points give VV Eemdijk a positive result to build on in the Netherlands Derde Divisie, while USV Hercules will need to improve their attacking efficiency in the coming weeks. Eemdijk’s clean sheet will be particularly pleasing, as it underlined the defensive discipline that supported their win.
