VV Eemdijk produced a strong home performance to beat Sportlust’46 3-1 in the Netherlands Derde Divisie, with a second-half surge turning the match in their favour. Eemdijk’s energy, pressing and direct attacking play eventually overwhelmed a Sportlust side that had started well but could not sustain its early control.

Match overview

The Derde Divisie fixture, played on 24 October 2026, began with Sportlust’46 looking organised and compact. The visitors took the lead midway through the first half and briefly looked the more comfortable side. But Eemdijk responded before the break and then dominated large parts of the second half to secure an important three points.

Key moments

• 19th minute: Sportlust’46 took the lead with a well-placed finish after a quick move down the left.
• 41st minute: Eemdijk equalised before half-time, scoring from close range after a corner was only partially cleared.
• 63rd minute: Eemdijk went ahead for the first time, finishing a flowing move with a low shot across the goalkeeper.
• 87th minute: The home side sealed the win on the counter, scoring their third goal of the afternoon.

Tactical story

Sportlust’46’s early goal came from patient build-up and a smart run in behind, but it also woke Eemdijk up. The home side increased their pressing intensity, won more second balls in midfield and began to force Sportlust into mistakes. The equaliser just before half-time changed the mood completely.

After the break, Eemdijk played with more width and tempo. Their full-backs pushed higher, the midfield moved the ball quicker and the forwards made repeated runs into the channels. Sportlust’46 dropped deeper in response, and while they defended bravely for long spells, they could not prevent Eemdijk from creating the chances that decided the game.

Standout players

Eemdijk’s midfielder was the driving force behind the comeback, constantly demanding the ball and switching play. The striker’s movement created space for others and was rewarded with a goal, while the goalkeeper made an important save at 1-1 to keep the home side level. For Sportlust’46, the left-sided attacker was their most dangerous outlet, especially in the first half.

What the result means

The win is a significant one in the Derde Divisie table, giving Eemdijk momentum and reinforcing their home form. Sportlust’46 will be frustrated after taking the lead, but the match exposed the importance of maintaining concentration when pressure builds. With the season still developing, both sides will take lessons from a game that shifted decisively in Eemdijk’s favour after half-time.
