Staphorst 0-3 TEC: TEC cruise to clinical away win

TEC produced a mature and efficient away performance to beat Staphorst 3-0 in the Netherlands Derde Divisie on Saturday, October 3, 2026. The visitors scored in each phase of the match, controlled the midfield, and defended their lead with discipline.

For Staphorst, it was a frustrating evening. They had spells of possession but struggled to create clear chances against a well-drilled TEC side that looked dangerous every time it broke forward.

Match overview

TEC took the lead in the 22nd minute with a well-worked team goal. After a patient build-up on the right, the ball was cut back to the edge of the box, where Daan Vermeulen struck a first-time effort into the bottom corner. Staphorst tried to respond immediately, but their crosses were dealt with comfortably by TEC’s central defenders.

The second goal came just before the hour mark. TEC won the ball high up the pitch, and a quick exchange of passes released their striker through on goal. He rounded the goalkeeper and rolled the ball into an empty net, taking the wind out of Staphorst’s sails.

TEC added a third in the 84th minute to complete the scoring. A counterattack down the left ended with a low cross that was tapped in at the back post. By then, the away side were fully in control and managed the closing minutes without any real alarm.

Key moments

• 22nd minute: Daan Vermeulen opened the scoring with a crisp strike from the edge of the area.
• 38th minute: Staphorst’s best chance of the first half was headed over from a corner.
• 58th minute: TEC doubled their lead after a high turnover and a calm finish past the goalkeeper.
• 71st minute: Staphorst pushed forward, but TEC’s goalkeeper made a strong save to deny them a lifeline.
• 84th minute: TEC sealed the win with a simple tap-in after a fast counterattack.

Tactical story

TEC lined up in a flexible 4-2-3-1 that became a 4-4-2 out of possession. Their two holding midfielders screened the back four effectively, forcing Staphorst to play wide. Once the ball went wide, TEC’s full-backs pressed aggressively and often won it back.

Staphorst tried to use their wingers to stretch the play, but the final delivery was inconsistent. When they did get into promising positions, TEC’s centre-backs were quick to close down and block shots. In transition, TEC were ruthless, turning defence into attack with minimal passes.

Standout players

Daan Vermeulen was influential in midfield, scoring the opener and dictating the tempo. TEC’s striker also impressed with his movement and finishing, while the goalkeeper made a crucial save at 2-0 to preserve the clean sheet. The left-back was another standout, supporting attacks and defending solidly.

For Staphorst, the captain tried to rally the team, and their young substitute showed some bright moments late on. But too many players had off nights in the final third.

Standings and season impact

The three points keep TEC in a strong position in the Netherlands Derde Divisie table, with their away form becoming a real asset. Staphorst remain in need of consistency and will be disappointed to concede three at home. The result gives TEC bragging rights in the recent head-to-head record and adds to their growing momentum this season.
