Noordwijk 1-2 Zwaluwen: Away Side Come From Behind in Derde Divisie Clash

Zwaluwen claimed a 2-1 victory at Noordwijk in the Netherlands Derde Divisie on Saturday, 26 September 2026. The away side recovered from an early deficit to take all three points at Sportpark Duinwetering, delivering a composed second-half performance that underlined their promotion ambitions.

Noordwijk began brightly and took the lead, but Zwaluwen’s response was measured and effective. The win moves Zwaluwen up the standings and hands Noordwijk a frustrating home defeat in a competitive early-season fixture.

Match Overview

The home side started with high energy, pressing Zwaluwen’s defence and looking to force mistakes. That approach paid off when Noordwijk opened the scoring after a sustained spell of pressure. The goal gave the hosts confidence, and for a while they looked capable of adding a second.

Zwaluwen gradually settled, however, and began to find space between the lines. Their equaliser came before half-time and changed the mood of the match. In the second half, the visitors controlled possession more effectively and limited Noordwijk’s chances. The winning goal arrived in the 73rd minute, and from there Zwaluwen managed the game with maturity.

Key Moments

• 14th minute: Noordwijk took the lead with a close-range finish after a goalmouth scramble from a corner.
• 31st minute: Zwaluwen forced a smart save from the Noordwijk goalkeeper with a dipping effort from distance.
• 44th minute: Zwaluwen equalised just before the break, finishing calmly after a quick passing move opened up the home defence.
• 73rd minute: The visitors scored the winner, a low strike from the edge of the box that found the bottom corner.
• 88th minute: Noordwijk pushed players forward, but Zwaluwen’s back line held firm and cleared the danger.

Tactical Story

Noordwijk’s early plan was to press high and use the crowd’s energy to pin Zwaluwen back. It worked in the opening twenty minutes, but it also left space behind the midfield. Zwaluwen’s equaliser came when they bypassed that press with two quick passes and attacked the vacated area.

In the second half, Zwaluwen adjusted by keeping an extra player central and slowing the tempo when needed. Noordwijk struggled to regain the initiative and became increasingly reliant on crosses. Zwaluwen’s winner came from a patient build-up rather than a counter, showing their ability to hurt opponents in different ways. Defensively, they were disciplined in the final fifteen minutes, dropping into a compact block and protecting the lead.

Standout Players

Zwaluwen’s central midfielder was influential throughout, linking defence and attack and setting the tempo after the break. Their forward took his equaliser well and remained a threat on the break. For Noordwijk, the goalkeeper kept them in the match with two strong saves, while their captain worked tirelessly in midfield but could not inspire a late equaliser.

Season Impact

The three points are significant for Zwaluwen in the Derde Divisie, where away wins are often hard to come by. Noordwijk will be disappointed to lose at home after a promising start, and they will need to improve their game management when leading. Both sides now face important fixtures as they look to establish themselves in the upper half of the table.
