CF Univer Comrat edged a nine-goal thriller against CF Sparta Selemet 5-4 in the Moldovan Liga 1 on 16 October 2026, in a match that will be remembered for its incredible attacking football and dramatic swings in momentum. The home side eventually prevailed in a contest that saw the lead change hands multiple times and kept supporters on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

Match Overview

The game started at a frantic pace, with both sides committed to attack and defending seemingly an afterthought. CF Univer Comrat drew first blood, but CF Sparta Selemet responded almost immediately, setting the tone for a breathless encounter. By half-time, the scoreline had already reached remarkable heights, with the teams trading blows like two boxers unwilling to take a step back.

The second half continued in the same vein. Sparta Selemet twice fought back to level the scores, but Univer Comrat found an extra gear in the closing stages to snatch the winning goal. The defensive frailties on both sides were evident, yet the sheer entertainment value of the match made it one of the standout fixtures of the Moldovan Liga 1 season so far.

Key Moments

• Opening exchange: Univer Comrat struck first, only for Sparta Selemet to equalise within minutes.
• Goal fest before the break: Four more goals followed in a chaotic first half that ended with Univer Comrat narrowly ahead.
• Second-half comeback: Sparta Selemet levelled twice after the restart, refusing to let the game slip away.
• Late winner: Univer Comrat scored the decisive ninth goal of the match, sending the home crowd into raptures.

Tactical Story

Both managers opted for attacking formations, with Univer Comrat deploying a 4-2-3-1 and Sparta Selemet matching them in a 4-3-3. The midfield battle was almost non-existent at times, as both teams bypassed the centre of the park with direct passing and quick transitions. This openness created a constant stream of chances, but it also left both defences exposed.

Univer Comrat's wide players were particularly effective, repeatedly getting in behind the Sparta full-backs. Sparta Selemet, meanwhile, looked dangerous on the counter and from set pieces, scoring twice from dead-ball situations. In the end, it was Univer Comrat's superior finishing in the final third that made the difference.

Standout Players

The Univer Comrat striker was the hero of the night, scoring a brace including the late winner. Their attacking midfielder also delivered a masterclass in creativity, providing two assists. For Sparta Selemet, the centre-forward fought valiantly, netting twice, while their goalkeeper made several important saves despite conceding five. The match also highlighted the defensive work needed on both sides if they are to challenge for promotion.

Season Impact

This victory gives CF Univer Comrat a crucial three points in the Moldovan Liga 1 and boosts their confidence after a high-scoring encounter. CF Sparta Selemet, despite the defeat, showed tremendous character to twice come back from behind and will take encouragement from their attacking display. Both teams will need to tighten up defensively, but for the neutral, this was a spectacular advertisement for Moldovan football.
