CS Petrocub edged FC Milsami 2-1 in the Moldovan Super Liga on 24 October 2026, using a determined second-half performance to claim all three points in a match that remained finely balanced until the closing stages.

Match overview

Petrocub began with the greater urgency and looked to impose themselves through quick passing in wide areas. The hosts were rewarded for their early pressure when a flowing move down the right ended with a composed finish from inside the penalty area. Milsami responded well after falling behind, slowing the tempo and forcing Petrocub to defend deeper for spells either side of half-time. The visitors found their equaliser after the break when a well-worked attack opened up the home defence and the finishing touch was assured.

Rather than settle for a draw, Petrocub pushed again in the final quarter. Their persistence paid off when a recycled attack produced the decisive goal, restoring the home side’s advantage and leaving Milsami with little time to respond. Petrocub managed the closing minutes with maturity, keeping possession in useful areas and clearing their lines when required.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Petrocub turn early pressure into the opening goal with a low finish after a sharp move down the right.
• 54th minute: FC Milsami equalise through a neatly constructed attack, briefly shifting the momentum of the contest.
• 77th minute: Petrocub restore their lead with the winning goal, converted after sustained pressure around the Milsami box.
• Late save: The Petrocub goalkeeper stands firm in the final minutes to protect the narrow advantage.

Tactical story

Petrocub’s width was a central part of their plan. The full-backs pushed high to stretch Milsami’s defensive block, while the midfield looked to recycle possession quickly and feed runners between the lines. That approach created chances early, but it also left space for Milsami to counter, particularly when Petrocub lost the ball in advanced areas.

Milsami were compact and disciplined for long periods, defending narrow and inviting pressure before looking to break quickly. Their equaliser came from exactly that kind of transition. In the end, Petrocub’s willingness to keep pushing after the setback made the difference, and their game management in the final ten minutes was as important as the winning goal itself.

Standout performers

Petrocub’s midfield anchor was influential throughout, breaking up play and setting the tempo of the home side’s attacks. The wide players also caused persistent problems with their direct running. For Milsami, the goalkeeper produced several important stops to keep the visitors in the game, while the central defenders dealt with a heavy workload before the late breakthrough.

What the result means

The win gives CS Petrocub a valuable three points in the Moldovan Super Liga standings and reinforces their ability to grind out results in tight home matches. For FC Milsami, the performance offered encouragement despite the defeat, particularly the response after conceding first. Both sides now turn their attention to the next round, with Petrocub able to build on a hard-fought victory and Milsami looking to turn competitive displays into points.
