Zimbru Chisinau delivered one of the most emphatic results of the Moldovan Cup campaign so far, dismantling Speranta Nisporeni 6-0 at the Zimbru Stadium on Wednesday, 28 October 2026. The home side were ruthless from the opening whistle, scoring three before half-time and adding three more after the break to turn the cup tie into a statement performance.

Match overview

The Moldova Cup fixture pitted one of the country’s most established clubs against a Speranta Nisporeni side looking to spring an upset. Instead, Zimbru controlled the tempo, territory and chances from the first minute. The 6-0 scoreline reflected their dominance in possession and their clinical finishing in the final third, while Speranta were left to defend for long spells and rarely threatened the home goal.

Zimbru’s victory sends them into the next round of the Cupa Moldovei with momentum and confidence. For Speranta, the result is a painful one, but the cup format offers a quick reset as they turn attention back to league commitments.

Key moments

• 12’ – Zimbru 1-0: Mihai Ursu opened the scoring after a sharp move down the right, finishing low into the far corner.
• 27’ – Zimbru 2-0: Denis Furtună doubled the lead with a first-time strike from the edge of the box after Speranta failed to clear a corner.
• 41’ – Zimbru 3-0: Alexandru Bodiu added a third before half-time, converting a cut-back from close range.
• 58’ – Zimbru 4-0: Ursu grabbed his second with a composed finish after being played through by Bodiu.
• 73’ – Zimbru 5-0: Ursu completed his hat-trick, heading in from a deep cross as Speranta’s defence struggled to recover.
• 88’ – Zimbru 6-0: Furtună sealed the rout with his second goal of the night, curling a shot into the top corner.

Tactical story

Zimbru lined up with an aggressive 4-3-3 and pressed Speranta’s back line relentlessly. The midfield trio squeezed the space between the lines, forcing long clearances that were quickly recycled. With full-backs pushing high, Zimbru created overloads on the flanks and repeatedly found space behind Speranta’s defensive block.

Speranta attempted to sit deep in a 5-4-1 shape, but the early goal disrupted their plan. As they were forced to chase the game, gaps appeared in midfield and Zimbru’s front three exploited them with quick combinations. The second half followed a similar pattern: Zimbru kept the ball moving, Speranta dropped deeper, and the goals arrived in waves.

Standout performers

Mihai Ursu was the headline act with a well-taken hat-trick, showing movement, composure and finishing quality. Denis Furtună was equally influential with two goals and constant energy in the attacking third. Alexandru Bodiu capped a strong all-around display with a goal and an assist, while goalkeeper Vadim Covalciuc preserved the clean sheet with a couple of routine but important saves.

What the result means

For Zimbru Chisinau, the 6-0 win is more than just a cup progression. It reinforces their attacking depth and gives the coaching staff confidence that the squad can rotate without losing rhythm. In a knockout competition, such a dominant performance also sends a message to the remaining teams in the Moldova Cup draw.

Speranta Nisporeni will need to regroup quickly. Cup exits can sting, but the priority now shifts to restoring defensive shape and finding more composure in possession ahead of their next league fixture.
