Match Overview

Both sides began cautiously, aware that a mistake could prove costly in a knockout competition. USFAS Bamako enjoyed the majority of possession in the first half but lacked cutting edge in the final third. Diarra sat deep, absorbing pressure and waiting for opportunities on the break.

Tactical Story

FC Diarra deployed a compact 4‑5‑1 shape, prioritising defensive solidity and rapid transitions. USFAS Bamako controlled the midfield through a 4‑3‑3 but were frustrated by disciplined defending. Diarra’s wingers tracked back diligently, forcing USFAS to rely on hopeful crosses that were easily cleared.

Standout Players

FC Diarra’s goalkeeper was named man of the match for his commanding performance, including that vital late save. The Diarra striker was a constant nuisance with his hold‑up play. For USFAS Bamako, the central midfielder tried to orchestrate attacks but lacked support from wide areas.

Competition Context

This win takes FC Diarra into the quarter‑finals of the Mali Cup, a tournament that offers a route to continental competition. USFAS Bamako, who have historically been strong in the domestic league, will rue their inability to convert possession into goals.
