The Amazones C5 Women’s team produced a commanding performance in the Mali Cup on 19 June 2026, defeating Super Lionnes Women 3-1 at a lively home venue. The victory underlined the home side’s growing reputation in Malian women’s football and kept their cup hopes alive with a confident display.

Match Overview

From the opening whistle, Amazones C5 took control of the midfield and pressed high against a Super Lionnes side that struggled to find rhythm. The home team’s aggressive approach paid off inside the first 20 minutes when they broke the deadlock with a well‑worked move down the right flank. A precise cross found the forward, who slotted home from close range.

Super Lionnes responded by pushing more players forward, but Amazones C5 absorbed the pressure and hit on the counter. Before the half-hour mark, a swift transition doubled the lead: a through ball split the defence and the second striker chipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. The 2-0 scoreline at halftime reflected Amazones C5’s dominance.

Second‑Half Drama

The visitors came out with renewed energy after the break. Super Lionnes Women pulled one back in the 55th minute with a powerful header from a corner, making the score 2-1 and setting up a tense final half‑hour. However, Amazones C5 showed composure and regained control of the tempo.

With just under 15 minutes remaining, the home team sealed the win with a third goal. A free kick from just outside the box was curled brilliantly into the top corner, leaving the Super Lionnes keeper with no chance. The 3-1 margin was a fair reflection of the match, as Amazones C5’s defensive organisation held firm in the closing stages.

Standout Performers

• Midfield anchor: The central midfielder controlled the tempo, completing over 85% of passes and breaking up opposition attacks.
• Super Lionnes’ lone bright spot: The away side’s goal came from a set piece, and their centre‑back was a threat in the air all match.
