Xolos de Hermosillo edged Club Atletico Tijuana 1-0 in the Mexican TDP League on Saturday, October 24, 2026, with a second-half goal settling a tightly contested match at a morning kickoff.

The result was decided by a single moment of quality in the second half, as Xolos de Hermosillo made the most of their best attacking sequence while Club Atletico Tijuana were left to rue a series of missed opportunities in front of goal.

Match Overview

Both sides entered the fixture looking to impose themselves early, but the opening exchanges were cautious. Club Atletico Tijuana saw more of the ball in the first half, stringing passes together in midfield and trying to find space between the lines, while Xolos de Hermosillo defended in a compact shape and looked to hit on the break.

The match remained finely balanced after the interval, but Xolos de Hermosillo gradually found more joy down the right flank. The decisive breakthrough arrived in the 63rd minute, and from there the home side defended their advantage with maturity.

Key Moments

The first real chance fell to Club Atletico Tijuana in the 14th minute, but a low drive from the edge of the box was gathered comfortably by the Xolos de Hermosillo goalkeeper, Mario Beltran.

Xolos de Hermosillo’s best opening of the first half came from a quick counter-attack. A long ball released the right winger, whose cross was headed over by the arriving striker under pressure from a recovering defender.

The second half brought more urgency. In the 58th minute, Club Atletico Tijuana worked a shooting opportunity from a set piece, but the effort deflected wide. Five minutes later, the breakthrough came at the other end.

A neatly worked move down the right ended with a low cross into the penalty area, and Diego Lozano finished at the near post with a composed first-time strike. Club Atletico Tijuana pushed for an equaliser, but Xolos de Hermosillo’s back line held firm, with Beltran making a late save to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Club Atletico Tijuana’s approach was built on possession and patient build-up, but they struggled to penetrate a well-organised Xolos de Hermosillo defence. Their midfielders often received the ball in front of the opposition back four rather than between the lines, allowing the home side to stay compact and force play sideways.

Xolos de Hermosillo, by contrast, were content to defend in a mid-to-low block and attack through quick transitions. Their wide players provided the main outlet, and the goal came from exactly that source: a direct run, a quality delivery, and a clinical finish.

The game management from Xolos de Hermosillo in the final 20 minutes was particularly impressive. They slowed the tempo, won fouls in useful areas, and limited Club Atletico Tijuana to speculative efforts from distance.

Standout Players

• Diego Lozano (Xolos de Hermosillo): The match-winner showed excellent movement and composure for the only goal of the game.
• Mario Beltran (Xolos de Hermosillo): The goalkeeper made important saves and commanded his area well, securing a valuable clean sheet.
• Club Atletico Tijuana’s midfield: Despite the defeat, their central players kept the ball moving and forced Xolos de Hermosillo to defend for long spells.

Table and Season Impact

The three points give Xolos de Hermosillo a valuable boost in the TDP League standings and reinforce their reputation as a difficult side to break down. For Club Atletico Tijuana, the defeat is a frustrating one: they had enough possession to take something from the game but lacked the final pass and finishing touch.

With the season still unfolding, the win could prove important for Xolos de Hermosillo’s momentum. Club Atletico Tijuana, meanwhile, will need to turn territorial control into goals in their next outing if they are to climb the table.
