Juarez FC U21 produced a late winner to beat Necaxa U21 3-2 in a five-goal MEX U21 thriller on 23 October 2026, turning a back-and-forth contest into three valuable away points.

Match overview

Necaxa U21 started brightly at Estadio Victoria, pressing high and forcing Juarez FC U21 into early mistakes. The hosts were rewarded for their intensity when they opened the scoring from a well-worked move down the left, with a low cross converted at the near post. Juarez responded well, though, and equalised before half-time after a quick transition caught Necaxa’s defence out of shape.

The second half was end-to-end. Juarez took the lead for the first time just after the restart, finishing off a counterattack with a composed strike from the edge of the box. Necaxa refused to fold and levelled again in the 71st minute, setting up a tense final period. The decisive moment arrived late, when Juarez found space on the right and delivered a cross that was turned in at the second attempt. Necaxa pushed for another equaliser, but Juarez held on for a dramatic 3-2 win.

Key moments

• 18th minute – Necaxa U21 take the lead: A sharp move down the left ended with a low cross that was finished clinically at the near post.
• 29th minute – Juarez FC U21 equalise: A quick counterattack opened up the Necaxa defence, and Juarez’s forward kept his cool to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
• 52nd minute – Juarez take the lead: A loose ball fell to a Juarez midfielder on the edge of the area, and his low drive beat the goalkeeper.
• 71st minute – Necaxa level again: A sustained spell of pressure ended with a header from a right-sided cross that found the back of the net.
• 87th minute – Juarez score the winner: A cross from the right caused confusion in the Necaxa box, and Juarez forced the ball over the line from close range.

Tactical story

Necaxa U21 enjoyed more possession and looked to build through midfield, but they were vulnerable to Juarez’s pace in transition. Juarez sat slightly deeper after taking the lead and invited pressure, relying on quick breaks and wide overloads to create chances. That approach worked perfectly for the winner, as Juarez stretched the Necaxa defence before delivering a cross that the hosts could not clear.

Necaxa’s substitutions added energy in the final 20 minutes, and their equaliser came from exactly the kind of wide delivery they had been threatening. However, their eagerness to push forward for a winner left space at the back, and Juarez punished them with a late sucker punch. It was a harsh lesson in game management for the home side, but a deserved result for a Juarez team that took its chances when it mattered.

Standout players

Juarez FC U21’s forward was central to the win, contributing a goal and an assist while constantly stretching the Necaxa back line. Their right-sided attacker also caused problems throughout and delivered the cross that led to the decisive goal. For Necaxa U21, the attacking midfielder was the standout, linking play and creating several chances, while their centre-forward caused problems in the air and scored the second equaliser.

Season impact

The three points lift Juarez FC U21 in the MEX U21 standings and give them momentum in a competitive campaign. Necaxa U21, meanwhile, are left to reflect on a match they twice levelled but ultimately lost. The result underlines how fine the margins can be in the MEX U21 division, where transition moments and set-piece defending often decide the outcome. Both teams will have little time to dwell on the result as they prepare for their next fixtures.
