Chapulineros produced a determined comeback to beat Montaneses FC 2-1 in the Mexican Liga Premier Serie, overturning an early deficit with two well-worked goals. The home side’s improved second-half performance turned a frustrating start into an important victory.

Match overview

Montaneses FC began brightly and took the lead inside the opening 20 minutes, capitalising on a loose ball in midfield and finishing with a low strike from the edge of the area. The early goal stunned Chapulineros, who took time to find their rhythm and were forced to defend several counter-attacks as the visitors looked to double their advantage.

Chapulineros gradually grew into the game, moving the ball faster and pushing their wingers higher. The equaliser arrived before half-time, giving the home side renewed belief and changing the mood inside the stadium. From that point on, Chapulineros looked the more likely winner.

Key moments

The equaliser came from a patient move down the right. A clever overlap created space for a cross, and the ball was turned in at the back post after a scramble in the box. Montaneses protested for a foul, but the goal stood, and Chapulineros carried that momentum into the second half.

The winner arrived in the 81st minute. Chapulineros won the ball high up the pitch, played a quick one-two on the edge of the area, and finished with a composed strike into the bottom corner. Montaneses pushed for a late equaliser but were met by a disciplined home defence that protected the lead with maturity.

Tactical story

Chapulineros started with a 4-3-3 but struggled to connect their midfield to the front three in the opening half-hour. The coaching staff adjusted the shape slightly, bringing a midfielder closer to the striker and allowing the full-backs to push on. That change gave Chapulineros more presence in the final third and pinned Montaneses deeper.

Montaneses defended in a mid-block and looked dangerous on transitions, but their attacking threat faded as the game wore on. Chapulineros’ superior ball retention and willingness to press after losing possession made the difference in the final half-hour.

Standout performers

• Chapulineros’ attacking midfielder: Grew into the game and was central to the comeback with clever movement between the lines.
• Chapulineros’ right-back: Provided constant width and delivered the cross that led to the equaliser.
• Chapulineros’ match-winner: Showed composure in the box and took the decisive chance confidently.
• Montaneses FC’s goalkeeper: Made several strong saves to keep the visitors in the contest.

Standings and season impact

The win adds important momentum to Chapulineros’ campaign in the Liga Premier Serie and highlights their ability to respond after conceding first. Comeback victories can be valuable for team morale, especially in a competitive division where consistency is often the difference between promotion challengers and mid-table sides. Montaneses FC will be disappointed to lose after a promising start, but their early attacking play offered positives for the matches ahead.
