Artesanos Metepec FC and Dragones de Oaxaca shared the points after a hard-fought 0-0 draw in the MEX Liga Premier Serie on October 18, 2026. In a match short on goals but not on intensity, both defences held firm through long spells of pressure, leaving each side with a point and plenty to reflect on.

Match overview

Artesanos Metepec controlled more of the ball at home, building patiently from the back and looking to create openings through the wide areas. Dragones de Oaxaca, by contrast, sat in a compact defensive block and tried to strike on the counter. The contrast in approaches made for a tense contest, with the visitors content to absorb pressure and the hosts searching for a decisive final pass.

Clear chances were limited, but the match was not short of effort. Metepec pushed numbers forward in the second half, while Oaxaca grew more dangerous on the break as spaces opened up. Both goalkeepers were called into action, and both back lines made important interventions in the closing stages to preserve the clean sheet.

Key moments

• Early pressure: Artesanos Metepec forced a series of corners and set-piece situations, but Dragones de Oaxaca defended them with discipline.
• First-half save: The visitors’ goalkeeper produced a strong stop from a close-range effort to keep the score level.
• Offside flag: A promising Metepec move ended with the ball in the net, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
• Second-half counter: Dragones de Oaxaca broke quickly and forced a save at the other end, reminding the hosts of the danger on the break.
• Late set piece: Metepec sent a free-kick narrowly wide in the final minutes as they pushed for a winner.

Tactical story

Artesanos Metepec’s game plan revolved around possession and patient probing. The hosts circulated the ball well in midfield but found it difficult to break through Oaxaca’s compact defensive lines. Their best moments came when the full-backs advanced and created overloads wide, though the final delivery was often cleared by a well-organised visiting defence.

Dragones de Oaxaca were happy to concede territory and defend in numbers. Their midfield screened the back line effectively, and their forwards worked hard to hold the ball up when counter-attacking opportunities arose. The visitors’ discipline made them difficult to break down, but they also lacked the final quality needed to turn their best transitions into goals.

Standout performers

Both goalkeepers deserved credit for preserving the shutout. Metepec’s goalkeeper dealt confidently with crosses and set pieces, while Oaxaca’s shot-stopper made the key save of the first half. The central defenders on both sides were also influential, winning headers and clearing danger under pressure.

In midfield, Artesanos Metepec’s deep-lying players kept the team ticking and tried to unlock the defence with diagonal passes. For Dragones de Oaxaca, the midfield unit’s work rate stood out, breaking up play and launching counters. The attacking players on both sides showed flashes of quality, but the final touch was missing.

Table and season impact

The draw adds a point to both teams’ tallies in the MEX Liga Premier Serie standings. For Artesanos Metepec, the result extends their defensive solidity at home but highlights the need for more cutting edge in the final third. For Dragones de Oaxaca, a clean sheet on the road is a positive takeaway, though the team will want to convert more of their counter-attacking moments into goals.

In a tightly contested Liga Premier Serie campaign, every point can matter. Artesanos Metepec will look to turn possession into penetration in their next fixture, while Dragones de Oaxaca will aim to build on their defensive discipline and find a breakthrough in front of goal.
