Dragones de Oaxaca and Heroes de Zaci FC played out a tightly contested 0-0 draw in Mexico Liga Premier Serie A action on October 24, 2026, at the Estadio Tecnológico de Oaxaca. The home side saw more of the ball and created the clearer openings, but a combination of resilient defending, sharp goalkeeping and some wasteful finishing kept the match level.

Match overview

Dragones de Oaxaca started with purpose, pushing their full-backs high and looking to stretch Heroes de Zaci FC through the wide areas. The visitors, however, were compact and disciplined, dropping into a narrow defensive block and forcing the home side to play in front of them. That pattern produced plenty of possession for Dragones but few clean sights of goal during the opening half-hour.

Heroes de Zaci FC grew into the contest as the first half wore on, using quick transitions to relieve pressure. Their best moments came from set pieces and counter-attacks, but the final ball was often cut out by a well-organised Dragones back line. With both midfields cancelling each other out, the game became a battle of patience rather than free-flowing attacking football.

Key moments

• 18th minute: Dragones created the first real chance when a low cross from the right reached the edge of the six-yard box, but the Heroes de Zaci FC goalkeeper reacted well to smother the ball.
• 34th minute: The visitors threatened on the break, forcing a diving save from the Dragones goalkeeper after a shot from just outside the penalty area.
• 58th minute: Dragones thought they had broken the deadlock from a corner, but the celebration was cut short by an offside flag against the attacker at the far post.
• 77th minute: A header from a deep free-kick clipped the top of the crossbar as Heroes de Zaci FC came close to snatching an unlikely lead.
• 89th minute: Dragones launched one final attack, but a last-ditch block inside the box preserved the clean sheet for the visitors.

Tactical story

Dragones de Oaxaca’s 4-2-3-1 shape gave them control in midfield, with the two holding players recycling possession and allowing the attacking midfielders to drift into half-spaces. The problem was penetration: Heroes de Zaci FC kept their defensive lines close together and defended the penalty area well, forcing Dragones into crosses that were often headed clear.

Heroes de Zaci FC’s 4-4-2 out-of-possession approach was built on discipline. Their strikers worked hard to block central passing lanes, while the wide midfielders tucked in to deny space between the lines. When they won the ball, they looked to attack quickly through the channels, but the final pass lacked precision. In the end, both coaches will have seen enough defensive structure to be satisfied, even if the attacking quality was limited.

Standout players

The Dragones de Oaxaca goalkeeper produced two important saves and commanded his area well, especially from set pieces. In front of him, the central defensive pairing dealt with long balls and second-phase deliveries throughout the afternoon. For Heroes de Zaci FC, the holding midfielder was particularly effective, breaking up play and slowing down Dragones’ rhythm in the middle third.

Season impact

The draw adds a point to both teams’ Mexico Liga Premier Serie A standings, but it will feel like a missed opportunity for Dragones de Oaxaca, who had enough territory and set-piece pressure to claim all three. Heroes de Zaci FC, by contrast, will take confidence from a disciplined away clean sheet. Both sides will now turn to their next fixtures knowing that sharper finishing in the final third could be the difference between mid-table stability and a push up the table.
