Monterrey gradually took control and equalised before half-time. Tactical Story

Monterrey set up in a 4-3-3 with a focus on wide overloads and quick combinations in the final third. Puebla defended in a deep 5-4-1 block, looking to absorb pressure and counter through their pacey wingers. The strategy worked early on, but Monterrey's midfield trio gradually took command, winning second balls and pushing the defensive line higher.

The key adjustment came in the second half when Monterrey's full-backs began to overlap more aggressively, stretching Puebla's back five. That created space for the winning goal and forced Puebla to chase the game late on. The home side's resilience was admirable, but they struggled to maintain possession under sustained pressure.

Standout Players

Monterrey's striker was the difference-maker, scoring the equaliser and constantly threatening with her runs. The Rayadas' central midfielder controlled the tempo and delivered the assist for the winner. For Puebla, the goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the scoreline close, while their left winger was a constant outlet on the counter-attack and provided the assist for the opening goal.
