Atlante W 2-1 Querétaro Women — Atlante W claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Querétaro Women in a Liga MX Femenil clash that delivered tension, tempo and a decisive late twist. Played under the lights in a match that kicked off in the early hours of September 22, 2026, the hosts recovered from a nervy opening to take all three points and strengthen their position in the league table.

Match Overview

Atlante W entered the contest looking to impose themselves at home, and they did exactly that after a cautious first ten minutes. Querétaro Women, organised in a compact mid-block, initially frustrated the hosts by closing the central lanes and forcing play wide. But Atlante's persistence paid off when they broke the deadlock midway through the first half, finishing off a flowing move that started on the right flank and ended with a composed strike inside the penalty area.

Querétaro responded well before the interval. Their equaliser came from a set-piece situation, a reminder of their threat from dead balls, and briefly silenced the home crowd. The scoreline remained 1-1 at the break, setting up a second half that demanded both tactical discipline and individual quality.

Tactical Story

Atlante W set up in a 4-2-3-1 shape that prioritised width and quick transitions. Their full-backs pushed high, pinning Querétaro's wide midfielders deep and creating overloads in the final third. The central midfield pair worked tirelessly to recycle possession, and it was their ability to win second balls that kept the pressure on after the equaliser.

Querétaro Women, by contrast, favoured a 4-4-2 that looked to spring counter-attacks through the channels. Their equaliser came from one of their few sustained periods of possession, but as the second half wore on, the visitors struggled to maintain their defensive shape. Atlante's winning goal arrived from a moment of transition — a turnover in midfield, a direct pass into the box, and a calm finish that reflected the home side's greater cutting edge on the night.

Standout Performances

Atlante's attacking midfielder was the engine of the team, linking play between the lines and delivering the pass that led to the opening goal. The centre-back pairing also deserves credit for limiting Querétaro's chances after the break, winning aerial duels and stepping out to intercept passes before they could reach the forwards.

For Querétaro Women, the goalkeeper kept her side in the contest with a string of saves, while the captain in midfield never stopped covering ground. Their set-piece goal was a well-rehearsed routine, and it briefly looked like it might be enough to earn a share of the points.

What the Result Means

The 2-1 win lifts Atlante W's confidence and adds valuable points to their Liga MX Femenil campaign. Three points at home against a direct rival can be decisive in the race for playoff positions, and the manner of the victory — recovering from a setback and finding a late winner — will please the coaching staff. Querétaro Women remain competitive but will rue missed opportunities, particularly the one-on-one chance at 1-1 that could have changed the momentum.

In the broader standings picture, Atlante W strengthen their grip on a top-half spot, while Querétaro Women stay within touching distance of the teams above them. With the season still unfolding, both sides will take lessons from a match that showcased the growing intensity and quality of Liga MX Femenil.
