Correcaminos de la U.A.T. 1-0 Club Jaiba Brava: Narrow Win in Tamaulipas Derby

Correcaminos de la U.A.T. edged Club Jaiba Brava 1-0 in Mexico Ascenso MX action on September 26, 2026, at Estadio Marte R. Gómez. In a tense, physical Tamaulipas derby, a single second-half goal was enough to separate the sides and hand Correcaminos a valuable three points in their push toward the playoff places.

The first half was a cagey affair, with both teams prioritizing defensive solidity. Jaiba Brava sat deep and looked to spring counterattacks, while Correcaminos controlled possession but struggled to find space in the final third. Chances were limited, and the sides went into the break level.

Match Overview

Correcaminos increased the intensity after halftime, pushing their midfield higher and forcing Jaiba Brava into more defensive errors. The breakthrough came in the 63rd minute when a quick combination down the right opened up the defense, and the resulting cross was converted from close range. The stadium erupted as the home side took a deserved lead.

Jaiba Brava responded with their best spell of the match, sending more players forward and delivering several dangerous set pieces. Correcaminos’ goalkeeper made two crucial saves in the final 15 minutes, including a diving stop in the 84th minute. The hosts held firm through five minutes of stoppage time to secure the clean sheet and the win.

Key Moments

• 63rd minute: Correcaminos de la U.A.T. score the only goal of the game with a close-range finish.
• 70th minute: Jaiba Brava force a sharp save with a header from a corner.
• 84th minute: Correcaminos’ goalkeeper produces a diving save to deny an equalizer.
• 90+3rd minute: A late Jaiba Brava shot flashes wide as the home side survives the pressure.

Tactical Story

Correcaminos set up in a 4-2-3-1 and used width to stretch Jaiba Brava’s back line. Their patience in possession eventually paid off, especially once the wingers began attacking the byline. Defensively, they dropped into a compact block late on, protecting the narrow lead with discipline and clearing their lines under pressure.

Club Jaiba Brava will feel they deserved something from the game after their late surge, but their lack of cutting edge in the first hour proved costly. Their midfield struggled to link with the forwards, and too many attacks ended in hopeful crosses rather than clear chances.

Standout Players

Correcaminos’ goalscorer will take the plaudits, but the team’s holding midfielder was equally important, breaking up play and starting counters. The goalkeeper’s late saves preserved the victory. For Jaiba Brava, the center-back was their best player, winning numerous duels and organizing the defense through a difficult away derby.

Ascenso MX Table Impact

The win lifts Correcaminos de la U.A.T. in the Mexico Ascenso MX standings and keeps their playoff ambitions firmly on track. Club Jaiba Brava leave with no points from a hard-fought rivalry match, but their performance in the final 20 minutes suggests they can compete with the league’s stronger sides. Both clubs now prepare for their next fixtures with the table beginning to take shape.
