Match overview

Morelia opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Diego Hernández found space at the far post and converted a well-worked cross from the left. The home side controlled much of the first half, moving the ball quickly and creating problems with overlapping runs from the full-backs.

Jaiba Brava equalized in the 52nd minute through Luis Morales, who pounced on a rebound inside the penalty area after Morelia’s goalkeeper parried a powerful shot. The goal changed the momentum of the match, and Jaiba Brava began to press higher and force mistakes in Morelia’s buildup.

Tactical story

Morelia’s first-half performance was built on patient possession and width, but the home side became increasingly vulnerable after losing control of the midfield. The change in approach allowed Jaiba Brava to win the ball higher up the pitch and create sustained pressure. Morelia’s substitutions did not have the desired impact, while Jaiba Brava’s bench provided fresh energy in the final third. The winning goal came from exactly the kind of wide overload the visitors had been building toward in the second half.

Luis Morales was influential for Jaiba Brava, scoring the equalizer and linking play effectively between midfield and attack. Jesús Rivera’s late winner capped a strong second-half display, while the visitors’ goalkeeper made two important saves to keep the score level before the comeback was complete. Diego Hernández was Morelia’s brightest attacking player and took his goal well.

What the result means

The win gives Club Jaiba Brava a valuable boost in the Mexico Ascenso MX standings and demonstrates the team’s ability to respond in difficult away environments. For Atlético Morelia, the defeat is a costly one after a promising start, and it highlights the need for greater game management when leading at home. Jaiba Brava’s second-half performance will be remembered as one of its most complete away displays of the season.
