Maziya and United Victory Battle to 2-2 Draw in Maldives Premier League

Maziya Sports and Recreation Club and United Victory played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Maldives Premier League on 10 October 2026. Maziya twice took the lead, but United Victory refused to fold, answering each setback with a goal of their own to earn a valuable point.

The result is a notable one in the context of the title race. Maziya, one of the most successful clubs in Maldivian football, were expected to take all three points, but United Victory's resilience turned the match into a tactical and emotional battle that lasted until the final whistle.

Match Overview

Maziya started brightly and took the lead in the 12th minute when Ibrahim Mahudhee received the ball on the edge of the box, shifted it onto his left foot and fired into the corner. The early goal gave Maziya control, but United Victory responded well and equalised in the 38th minute through Ali Fasir, who finished off a fast break with a low shot across the goalkeeper.

Maziya regained the lead in the 57th minute. A well-worked move down the right ended with a cross that Hamza Mohamed converted from close range. It looked like the decisive moment, but United Victory had other ideas. In the 84th minute, Hassan Nazeem latched onto a defensive clearance and drove the ball into the net to make it 2-2.

Tactical Story

Maziya dominated possession and looked to overload the flanks, using their full-backs to create crossing opportunities. United Victory sat deeper and focused on quick transitions, often looking for the pace of Ali Fasir and Hassan Nazeem. That approach paid off twice, as Maziya's high defensive line was exposed by direct runs.

United Victory's goalkeeper also played a key role, making a string of saves in the second half to keep the deficit manageable. Maziya pushed for a late winner, but United Victory defended their box with determination in the closing minutes.

Standout Players

Ibrahim Mahudhee was Maziya's most creative outlet and took his goal well. Hamza Mohamed provided energy and movement in the final third. For United Victory, Ali Fasir and Hassan Nazeem were constant threats on the break, while the goalkeeper's performance was instrumental in securing the draw.

What It Means for the Table

Maziya drop two points in the Maldives Premier League title race, a slip that could prove costly if their rivals capitalise. United Victory, meanwhile, will take confidence from going toe-to-toe with one of the league's powerhouse clubs. The draw adds another layer of intrigue to the standings and underlines that no fixture in the Maldives Premier League can be taken for granted.
