USM Oujda produced a determined comeback to beat Jeunesse Sportive Soualem 2-1 in Morocco Botola 2 on October 25, 2026. After falling behind early, the home side responded with two second-half goals to secure a valuable victory.

Match overview

The match began with JS Soualem looking sharp and willing to attack. Their early pressure paid off when they took the lead, forcing USM Oujda to chase the game. The home side needed time to settle, but they gradually found their rhythm and began to ask more questions of the Soualem defence. By half-time, the contest had turned into a patient battle for control.

USM Oujda’s response after the break was strong. They increased the tempo, pushed more players into attacking areas and were rewarded with an equaliser. With the crowd behind them, the home side continued to press and found a late winner that capped a resilient performance.

Key moments

• Soualem breakthrough: The visitors took the lead with a well-taken early chance, punishing Oujda during a bright opening spell.
• Oujda equaliser: The home side levelled after the break following a period of sustained pressure and better movement in the final third.
• Late winner: USM Oujda completed the turnaround with a goal in the closing stages, sending the home support into celebration.
• Final hold: Soualem pushed for a response, but Oujda managed the remaining minutes with focus and discipline.

Tactical story

USM Oujda’s comeback was powered by a shift in intensity. In the first half, they were too often forced sideways and struggled to break through Soualem’s compact defensive block. After the interval, the home side played with more directness, attacked the channels and got more bodies around the penalty area. That change made them harder to defend against and allowed them to sustain pressure.

JS Soualem had defended well for long periods and looked dangerous on the counter, but the second half demanded more from them physically and mentally. Once Oujda equalised, the visitors struggled to regain control. The late winner came from Oujda’s willingness to keep pushing rather than settling for a draw, a decision that proved decisive in a tight Botola 2 encounter.

Standout performers

USM Oujda’s midfield drove the comeback, raising the tempo and ensuring the team kept the ball in attacking areas. The forwards also deserve credit for their persistence, especially in the second half when space was limited. For JS Soualem, the early goalscorer and the goalkeeper were among the strongest performers, but the team could not hold on after Oujda’s equaliser changed the momentum.

What the result means

This is the kind of win that can lift a squad’s belief. USM Oujda showed character to recover from an early setback and found a way to win late, a quality that matters greatly in the competitive Botola 2 environment. The three points strengthen their home record and give them momentum for the fixtures ahead. Jeunesse Sportive Soualem will be disappointed to leave empty-handed after a promising start, but their performance showed enough to suggest they can compete. The key for them will be managing games better once the opposition gains control.
