Stade Marocain du Rabat 0-1 Ittihad Zemmouri Khemisset — Ittihad Zemmouri Khemisset claimed a narrow but thoroughly deserved away victory in Morocco Botola 2 on 4 October 2026, winning 1-0 at Stade Marocain du Rabat thanks to a first-half goal and a defensive display that grew more assured by the minute.

Stade Marocain is one of the most historic clubs in Moroccan football, and matches at their ground always carry a certain atmosphere. On this occasion, however, the home supporters were left frustrated as a disciplined Khemisset side absorbed pressure, took their chance and then protected the lead with real maturity.

Match overview

The opening exchanges followed the expected pattern: Stade Marocain with more of the ball, Khemisset organised and patient behind it. The hosts moved the ball from side to side searching for gaps, but the visitors' back four held its shape well and forced most attacks into wide, low-percentage areas.

The breakthrough came from the opposite direction. Against the run of possession, Khemisset won the ball in midfield, moved it forward quickly and found the finish their ambition deserved. It was a goal that completely changed the psychology of the match, giving the visitors something to defend and the hosts a puzzle to solve.

Key moments

• First half: Stade Marocain dominate territory but struggle to create clear openings.
• The goal: Khemisset convert a swift counter-attack to take a 1-0 lead.
• Second half: The visitors sit deeper and defend their box with discipline and physicality.
• Final stages: Stade Marocain push numbers forward, but the equaliser never arrives.

Tactical story

The game was a classic contest between possession and structure. Stade Marocain's approach relied on patient circulation and overloads in wide areas, but their crossing was inconsistent and their central attackers were repeatedly crowded out by two committed centre-backs. When the hosts did find space, the final pass was a fraction too slow.

Khemisset's plan was simpler and, on the night, more effective. They defended in a compact block, closed the central lane, and looked to spring forward whenever possession was turned over. Their game management in the final twenty minutes was excellent — slowing the tempo, winning fouls and taking the sting out of the home side's momentum.

Standout performers

The Khemisset goalkeeper was the outstanding figure, making a string of saves as the pressure mounted and commanding his area from crosses. Ahead of him, the captain in central defence organised the line superbly, while the goalscorer's movement in the build-up to the decisive moment was intelligent and unselfish.

For Stade Marocain, the midfield anchor worked relentlessly to keep the team ticking, and the substitute introduced in the second half added genuine urgency. But the team's forwards endured a difficult evening, starved of quality service in the areas that matter.

Standings and season impact

Winning away from home in Botola 2 is one of the clearest indicators of a side capable of competing at the top end of the table. Khemisset leave Rabat with three points, a clean sheet and renewed confidence, all of which will be valuable as the season progresses.

Stade Marocain are left to reflect on a familiar frustration: plenty of the ball, insufficient penetration. If they can convert territorial dominance into goals, results will improve quickly — but on this evidence, the search for a reliable finisher remains the priority.
