Chabab Atlas Khenifra 1-2 Ittihad Zemmouri Khemisset — Morocco Botola 2

Ittihad Zemmouri Khemisset secured a valuable 2-1 away victory over Chabab Atlas Khenifra in the Morocco Botola 2 on September 28, 2026. In a match that was fiercely contested from start to finish, Khemisset's clinical finishing and disciplined defending proved the difference, handing Khenifra a setback in their push for promotion.

Match Overview

The visitors began with intent, pressing high and looking to disrupt Khenifra's rhythm. Their approach paid off in the 34th minute when Yassine Labhiri latched onto a loose ball inside the box and fired home from close range. Khenifra responded well, dominating possession for the remainder of the first half, but they struggled to find a way past a stubborn Khemisset defence.

Early in the second half, Khemisset doubled their lead through Oussama Chaabi, who curled a superb effort into the top corner from 20 yards. Khenifra finally found a breakthrough in the 78th minute when Youssef El Amrani powered a header past the goalkeeper, setting up a tense finale. Despite late pressure and a series of corners, the home side could not find an equaliser, and Khemisset held on for all three points.

Key Moments

• 34' – Goal: Yassine Labhiri puts Khemisset ahead with a close-range finish.
• 51' – Goal: Oussama Chaabi doubles the lead with a stunning long-range strike.
• 78' – Goal: Youssef El Amrani heads home to give Khenifra hope.
• 90+3' – Save: Khemisset's goalkeeper produces a reflex save to deny a late equaliser.

Tactical Analysis

Khemisset set up in a compact 4-4-2, looking to soak up pressure and hit on the counter-attack. Their two goals came from quick transitions, catching Khenifra's backline out of position. Khenifra, meanwhile, enjoyed over 60% possession but lacked a cutting edge in the final third, often overplaying in wide areas instead of testing the goalkeeper.

The away side's midfield duo of Labhiri and Chaabi were instrumental, breaking up play and driving forward. Khenifra's manager made attacking substitutions in the second half, but the team's crossing accuracy let them down, and Khemisset's centre-backs dealt with the aerial threat effectively.

Standout Players

Oussama Chaabi was the standout performer, scoring a magnificent goal and dictating the tempo from midfield. Yassine Labhiri also impressed with his energy and goal, while Khemisset's goalkeeper made a crucial stoppage-time save to secure the win. For Khenifra, Youssef El Amrani was the brightest spark, scoring the consolation and leading the line with purpose.

Promotion Race Impact

This result sees Ittihad Zemmouri Khemisset climb further up the Botola 2 table, keeping their promotion ambitions firmly on track. For Chabab Atlas Khenifra, the defeat leaves them playing catch-up in the race for a top-two finish, and they will need to improve their home form quickly. The head-to-head record now favours Khemisset, who have won two of the last three meetings between these two sides. Khenifra's next fixture becomes a must-win to restore confidence, while Khemisset will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming home match.
