Fola Esch continued their strong form in the Luxembourg Division of Honour with a hard-fought 2-1 away win at US Feulen on 4 October 2026. The visitors came from behind to take all three points, showing the sort of resilience that could prove crucial in the race for promotion.

Match Overview

US Feulen made a bright start and took an early lead, but Fola Esch's experience and quality gradually told. The visitors equalised before half-time and then controlled large periods of the second half, grabbing the winner with less than twenty minutes remaining. It was a result that underlined Fola Esch's credentials as one of the strongest sides in the division, while leaving Feulen frustrated at letting a promising position slip.

Key Moments

• 9' — Feulen strike first: Ricardo Ferreira reacted quickest to a rebound and slotted the ball home from close range.
• 35' — Fola Esch equalise: Alexandre Pinto curled a beautiful free-kick into the top corner.
• 53' — Fola Esch hit the post: Mike Wagner's header rattled the woodwork as the visitors turned up the pressure.
• 73' — Fola Esch take the lead: Mike Wagner made amends, finishing a patient move with a calm side-footed effort.
• 88' — Feulen's late chance: A header from a corner drifted inches wide as Fola Esch held on.

Tactical Story

Fola Esch lined up with a possession-based approach, using their midfield to dictate the tempo. After conceding early, they resisted the temptation to panic and instead kept moving the ball patiently, waiting for gaps to appear. US Feulen defended in a compact block but struggled to maintain their intensity for the full ninety minutes. As Fola Esch increased the pace in the second half, Feulen's midfield dropped deeper, and the winning goal came from exactly that pressure. Fola Esch's game management in the closing stages was textbook.

Standout Players

Mike Wagner was the match-winner, constantly probing the Feulen defence and scoring the decisive goal. Alexandre Pinto was excellent in midfield, scoring the equaliser and dictating play. For US Feulen, Ricardo Ferreira took his goal well and worked tirelessly, but the team will rue missed chances at key moments. Fola Esch's centre-back pairing also deserves credit for limiting Feulen's clear opportunities after the opening goal.

What It Means

Fola Esch's victory keeps them in the upper reaches of the Luxembourg Division of Honour and maintains their momentum in the promotion race. US Feulen remain a competitive side but will be disappointed to have taken nothing from a game in which they led. With the season progressing, Fola Esch's ability to win away from home in tough conditions could be the hallmark of a successful campaign, while Feulen must find a way to close out tighter matches.
