Mamer 2-0 US Feulen: Controlled Home Display Secures Three Points

Mamer claimed a composed 2-0 victory over US Feulen in the Luxembourg Division of Honour on Sunday evening, combining patient build-up play with a solid defensive performance.

At Stade Albert Berchem, Mamer took the lead in the first half and never really looked like surrendering it. US Feulen worked hard and had spells of possession, but they struggled to create clear chances against a well-organised home defence. A second goal late in the second half sealed the result and gave Mamer a deserved three points.

Match overview

Mamer began the match with confidence, moving the ball quickly through midfield and looking to stretch Feulen’s back line. The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute when Lucas Hoffmann found space between the centre-backs and slotted a low finish into the bottom corner. Feulen responded with a few promising attacks down the right, but Mamer’s goalkeeper was rarely tested.

After the break, Feulen pushed more players forward in search of an equaliser. That left gaps at the back, and Mamer almost capitalised on several counter-attacks. The decisive second goal came in the 78th minute when substitute Tom Schneider latched onto a through ball and calmly lifted it over the onrushing goalkeeper. From there, Mamer managed the game professionally and kept a clean sheet.

Key moments

• 23rd minute – Mamer take the lead: Lucas Hoffmann found a pocket of space and finished low into the corner.
• 39th minute – Feulen’s best chance: A header from a corner drifted just wide of the post.
• 55th minute – Mamer counter: A quick break ended with a shot deflected behind for a corner.
• 78th minute – Schneider doubles the lead: The substitute ran onto a through ball and finished coolly.
• 90+2 minutes – Clean sheet secured: Mamer defended a late Feulen free-kick to preserve the 2-0 win.

Tactical story

Mamer’s approach was balanced and intelligent. They built patiently from the back, used their midfielders to create numerical advantages, and were willing to slow the game down when needed. Defensively, they stayed compact and forced Feulen to play in front of them rather than through them. That structure was the foundation of the clean sheet.

US Feulen had moments of promise, especially when they switched play quickly, but they lacked a finishing touch in the final third. Their attacking players often received the ball with their backs to goal, and Mamer’s centre-backs dealt comfortably with crosses into the box. The visitors will need to find more creativity if they are to turn possession into goals in future matches.

Standout players

Lucas Hoffmann was influential throughout, not only for his opening goal but also for his movement and link-up play. Tom Schneider made an immediate impact from the bench, scoring the goal that effectively ended the contest. In defence, Mamer’s captain led by example, winning headers and organising the back line during Feulen’s best spells.

Table impact and what’s next

The win strengthens Mamer’s position in the Luxembourg Division of Honour and gives them momentum heading into their next fixture. For US Feulen, it is a frustrating evening, but there were enough positive signs to suggest they can compete. The margin between the teams was not enormous, yet Mamer’s efficiency in both boxes was the difference. In a league where every point matters, that kind of clinical home performance is exactly what promotion-chasing sides need.
