Bettembourg progressed in the Luxembourg Cup with a hard-fought 2-1 victory away to Jeunesse Junglinster on 20 September 2026. A late goal settled a tight contest that had looked destined for extra time, sending the visitors through and leaving the hosts to rue missed opportunities.

Match overview

Jeunesse Junglinster made a positive start and pressed Bettembourg high up the pitch, but the visitors absorbed the pressure and took the lead against the run of play. Junglinster responded impressively, equalising before the interval and creating several chances to go ahead after the restart. Just as the tie seemed to be drifting towards extra time, Bettembourg found a decisive late finish.

Key moments

• Bettembourg opener: A quick break and a precise finish gave the away side the advantage.
• Junglinster equaliser: The hosts levelled with a composed finish after winning the ball back high up the field.
• Chances at both ends: Both goalkeepers were called into action as the game opened up.
• Late winner: Bettembourg struck in the closing minutes to seal a 2-1 win.

Tactical story

Junglinster’s high press caused problems, but it also left space behind for Bettembourg to exploit. The visitors were happy to defend deeper in the second half and look for transitions, and that approach paid off with the winning goal. Bettembourg’s ability to stay compact and strike at the right moment proved the difference in a cup tie of fine margins.

Cup implications

The result sends Bettembourg into the next round of the Luxembourg Cup, where they will hope to build on this resilient away performance. Jeunesse Junglinster will feel they did enough to earn at least extra time, but knockout football is often decided by the smallest details. Bettembourg’s late composure in front of goal was exactly what the occasion demanded.
