AS Hosingen 0-6 Racing Union Luxemburg: Ruthless Racing Union Cruise into Next Round

Racing Union Luxemburg produced a clinical and utterly dominant performance to thrash AS Hosingen 6-0 in the Luxembourg Cup on Sunday, 20 September 2026. The National Division side showed their class from the first whistle, overwhelming their lower-league hosts with a ruthless attacking display that leaves no doubt about their cup ambitions.

Match Overview

From the kick-off, Racing Union Luxemburg controlled possession and tempo. AS Hosingen, who play their football in a lower division, struggled to contain the movement and speed of the visiting forwards. The deadlock was broken inside the first ten minutes, and from there it became a matter of how many Racing Union would score. By half-time, the scoreboard already read 4-0, with the away side unrelenting in their pursuit of goals. The second half was more of the same, though Hosingen showed brief moments of resistance, managing a couple of attempts on goal. However, Racing Union added two more to complete a resounding victory.

Key Moments

• 8th minute: Racing Union open the scoring with a well-worked move down the right, finished calmly at the near post.
• 17th minute: A second goal arrives after a defensive mix-up, punishing Hosingen's hesitation.
• 31st minute: A spectacular 25-yard strike makes it 3-0, underlining the gulf in quality.
• 44th minute: A fourth goal right before the break effectively ends the contest.
• 58th minute: Racing Union add a fifth from the penalty spot after a foul in the box.
• 82nd minute: A late sixth goal caps a dominant team performance.

Tactical Story

Racing Union Luxemburg set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their full-backs pushing high to stretch Hosingen's defence. The midfield trio pressed aggressively, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. AS Hosingen attempted to sit deep and counter, but their transitions were too slow, and they were often caught in possession. The visitors' movement off the ball was exceptional, creating overloads on the flanks and pulling the Hosingen backline out of shape. Defensively, Racing Union were barely tested, keeping a clean sheet with ease.

Standout Players

Lucas Ferreira was the architect-in-chief, scoring twice and providing an assist. His link-up play and dribbling caused constant problems. Tom Hoffmann in midfield controlled the tempo, while Jan Weber at centre-back was a rock, snuffing out any rare Hosingen attacks. For AS Hosingen, goalkeeper Mike Schmit made several saves to keep the score from becoming even more embarrassing, and young forward David Klein showed flashes of promise with his running.

Cup Impact and What's Next

The win sends Racing Union Luxemburg into the next round of the Luxembourg Cup, where they will await the draw. For AS Hosingen, the cup run ends here, but the experience of hosting a top-flight club will be valuable for their league campaign. Racing Union, meanwhile, will be confident of a deep run in the competition, especially if they maintain this level of ruthlessness in front of goal. Their fans will be hoping for a favourable draw and perhaps a chance to challenge for silverware.
