DFK Dainava Alytus B were beaten 1-2 by Nevezis Kedainiai in the Lithuanian II Lyga on Saturday, 19 September 2026. The reserve side of the Alytus club produced a committed and at times eye-catching performance, but the experience and physicality of Nevezis proved decisive in a tightly contested away victory.

Match Overview

Dainava Alytus B went into the game with a young squad eager to impress and push for consideration at first-team level. Their approach was energetic and positive, with quick combinations in midfield and willing runners from wide areas. Nevezis Kedainiai, by contrast, arrived with a more seasoned group and a clear plan: stay compact, win the second balls and punish mistakes.

The contrast in experience was evident early on, as the visitors used their physical advantage to control the midfield battle. Yet Dainava B refused to be overawed, growing into the match and creating enough chances to suggest a different result was possible on another evening.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Nevezis took the lead with a sharp finish from inside the box after a loose ball fell kindly in the penalty area.
• 29th minute: Dainava B's goalkeeper made a superb double save to keep the deficit at one.
• 44th minute: The hosts equalised with a well-crafted goal, a clever through ball releasing a young midfielder who finished calmly across the goalkeeper.
• 67th minute: Nevezis restored their advantage, a deep cross headed home powerfully from six yards out.
• 85th minute: Dainava B pushed bodies forward in search of an equaliser, but a last-ditch block denied them a clear sight of goal.

Tactical Story

Dainava B lined up with a youthful energy that made them dangerous in transition. Their equaliser was the clearest example of that, a rapid move from back to front that caught Nevezis out of shape. But the hosts struggled to sustain pressure when Nevezis slowed the game down, and the visitors' ability to manage the tempo in the final twenty minutes proved crucial.

Nevezis were happy to defend their lead with a deeper block, clearing their lines and forcing Dainava B to build patiently from the back. The reserve side's willingness to keep probing was admirable, but a lack of cutting edge in the final third, combined with Nevezis's aerial strength at set pieces, ultimately decided the contest.

Standout Players

For Dainava Alytus B, the goalscorer was the standout, showing maturity beyond his years with a composed finish and intelligent movement throughout. The goalkeeper also deserved credit for keeping the scoreline close with several important saves. Nevezis's match-winner, who scored the decisive header, led the line with authority, while their midfield anchor broke up play effectively and ensured the visitors kept control in the closing stages.

Season Impact

The three points lift Nevezis Kedainiai in the II Lyga standings and give them momentum as the season progresses. For Dainava Alytus B, development remains the primary objective, and this performance offered plenty of encouragement despite the defeat. The reserve team's ability to compete against senior opposition in Lithuania's third tier is a positive sign for the club's player pathway.

Both teams now move on to their next fixtures, with Nevezis looking to build a run of results and Dainava B focused on turning promising displays into points on the board.
