Tactical Story

Kauno Zalgiris lined up with a possession-based 4-3-3, pushing their full-backs high and using quick switches of play to isolate Minija’s defensive line. FK Minija tried to defend in a compact 4-4-2 and counter through the channels, but they struggled to keep the ball long enough to relieve pressure. Zalgiris’s midfield trio controlled the second balls, and their disciplined defensive shape limited Minija to few clear chances.

FK Minija’s goalkeeper Deividas Urbonas made several saves to keep the score respectable, and their captain Linas Savickas never stopped pressing despite the scoreline.

What the Result Means

The 3-0 win sends Kauno Zalgiris into the next round of the Lithuanian Cup with confidence and a clean sheet. For FK Minija, the cup run ends against a higher-division opponent, but the experience offers valuable lessons. Kauno Zalgiris will now return to A Lyga duties with momentum, while Minija can focus on their league campaign and build on the battling qualities shown in the second half.
